1. Here's a thought
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.15)
Let's stop treating West Bank Arabs and Gaza Arabs for FREE. They either pay, or they can make do with hospitals in Ramallah and Jenin and Gaza City. That's several million shekels saved ever week already. Enforce that, and watch Jewish donations from the DIaspora to Israeli hospitals immediately triple. On a personal note, I used to make major donations to Assuta Hospital -- and some others -- on an annual basis. Right up until Assuta treated Mrs. Abbas. FOR FREE. With MY money. Sorry, I'm not interested in promoting the health of terrorists. That goes for ALL Gaza Arabs and ALL West Bank Arabs. I'm guessing that a great many philanthropic Jews in the Diaspora feel similarly. We're all about health care for Jews. The Arabs can go wherever else they want. Israeli hospitals treat any number of Jews terribly injured as a result of Arab terrorist attacks. Start charging the Arabs. That's another measure that ought to be examined. Until then, Israeli hospitals can kiss my $2.5M annually good-bye. I have no interest in paying for treatment for Arabs. And I am far from alone in that.
2. Just like everything else in Israel ,...

3. #1 Heres another thought Sarah B

4. split #2, fast forward back to pre-1977 days
Jake   (02.04.15)
The country managed to survive and the sun continued to rise in Israel, without much American "handouts".
5. lapid responsible for shortfalls in hospitals
marcel   (02.04.15)
lapdi the finance minister in bibi's govt is on the hook for failures in budgeting for hospitals and idf. recall he said the idf did not need extra funds the ignoramus that he is. hippocrites lapid and lying livni who told blitzer and shavit that she was prepared to give the golan away which she now denies, both urged bibi to go for ceasefires and not go all the way, yet now criticize him for lack of a diplomatic horizon on gaza as if hamas would agree to it. What a pair of dumbells. I never thought anyone could be as dull as olmert in security but livni is right up there with olmert in her absolute incompetence. Ynet-attack bibi for being weak, cowardly and gutless but to dwell on liquor bottles, cauffeurs, wine and ice cream shows how bankrupt you are-you act like weak jews and give jews a bad name. israelis-vote for bennett, the only leader that there is. Annd galant-sharon was wrong about gaza and chart your own path. No matter what you do, arabs not interested in peace under any conditions. Even if all the jews left israeli, arabs would be fighting wihteach other over palestine. Its in the genes.
6. Leftist Foolishness
Brod ,   USA   (02.04.15)
By tarnishing Israel, the Leftists are undermining Israel. Israel should reject these anti-Israel elements that aim to usurp the government by their crap talks. The fact is Israel has the best medical facilities in the world. Israel is a wonder nation of the world, despite the menacing and persistent threats and attacks by the dark forces of Islamist-Jihadism and Anti-Semitism.
7. Wow, what a coincidence!
Eric R. ,   USA   (02.04.15)
Just 6 weeks before an election where Bibi is expected to be returned as PM, the leftists at Ynet run a hit piece on the Israeli health care system. This is EXACTLY what the leftist, Israel-hating media in the USA did in 2008 numerous times in order to get their Moshiach, the Islamist Israel-hater Barack Obama, elected.
8. Agree with "Here's a thought"
Frank S. ,   NYC   (02.04.15)
I used to also send money to Israeli hospitals but, since they are treating Arabs for free instead of sending them to Ramallah, Jenin & Gaza I'm not sending any more money !!
9. To Sara B
Riva ,   Israel   (02.04.15)
Whereas i agree with you that Israel should stop treatment the families of Terrorists, yet, not helping Israeli hospitals also affects a lot of Jews. Maybe it's best to donate equipment directly where you know Jews will benefit rather than not give at all. thank you! PS please consider donating to Maayne Ha Yishua hospital where my husband is an anesthesiologist and saving countless Jewish lives everyday. it also has one of the highest birth rates in the country.
10. Medical waste
David ,   Tel aviv israel   (02.04.15)
I am a new oleh doctor and it is absolutely amazing at the waste I see in the hospital. The system is so old and antiquated that it is absolutely scary. Patients stay forever , people are admitted for BS reasons and apparently what I have learned is that it is a benefit to keep the wards full. They need better case managers and more incentives for the staff to care and make things work better for the patients. The best way for me to explain the system to my fellow doctors in the states is that it's like the VA system on steroids It's Very sad
11. Ads for French olim say "best public medical in teh world"
Miron ,   USA   (02.04.15)
Sounds like some people in English speaking world getting itchy that some have it better without ACA.
12. In the US many hospitals run half full.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.04.15)
The procedures are shorter in the US, I think. Many services which in the US are handled on an outpatient basis (without hospitalization) are on inpatient basis in Israel, which adds to overcrowding. People lie there on beds in those corridors, it breaks your heart. I know, my father was a patient and I was very sorry I couldn't get him to an American hospital. Also, when the hospitals are crowded, the sick infect each other and the recuperation times get longer due to unexpected multiple diseases. Staying home with chicken soups is often better.
13. So many problems in this country - you'd think
barbara ,   Haifa   (02.04.15)
this was the only country with problems !!??!!
14. DOH
michael ,   tel aviv   (02.04.15)
This is news? This happens every year. Everyone makes grandiose promises and there were even committees!! When will there be enough doc positions? enough nurse positions? physiotherapy? rehab? seriously?? I most certainly hope though that this would actually move someone to do something (finally) though i find this way to naive...
15. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.15)
For starters, I am an Israeli citizen, I own a home and an apartment in Israel, and I pay more in taxes to the State of Israel in any one year than you will earn in a lifetime. The fact that you use "West Bank" rather than Judea and Samaria says volumes. I served in the IDF. So did my husband. I'll bet the ranch that you did not. So shut up. If I prefer to see my tax dollars go to brave Jewish pioneers in Judea and Samaria rather than to support and succor Arabs who wish to exterminate the Jews, that is entirely my business. If we stopped doing all the things for Arab terrorists that we do, there would be plenty of money to help impoverished Israelis. The Arabs can take care of their own in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria. Israel needs to look after our own. Y'all have a great day, now.
16. Is Bashar Assad paying for his citizens being treated
A ,   Belgium   (02.04.15)
in Israeli hospitals, whether they be loyalists or rebels? I REALLY doubt it, and that care could be better given to Israelis. Let the Syrians send THEIR wounded from THEIR conflict to recieve aid from THEIR arab bretheren, or Iran.
17. #12 And if an American has no hospitalization or medical
A ,   Belgium   (02.04.15)
insurance, they may just as well die on the street, as Oblablacare has obviously failed, or take their chances in a local clinic. Judging by the treatment my wife recieved in a Palm Springs clinic after a dose of food poisoning...at least she lived.
18. @12 my impressions are opposite.
Miron ,   USA   (02.04.15)
The real trouble is quality of medical care. It's lower than in Soviet Union then and Russia now. While payments are...

Birdi ,   Israel   (02.04.15)
I'd rather have the ''settlements'' filled with Jews than Palestinians who would fire their rockets & missiles on us, destroy Ben Gurion Airport at a whim. No thanks, Sarah B. is spot on. Sarah B. is 100% correct in what she writes & you, are wrong. Try looking at the big picture!

Israeli hospitals have isolation wards for the patients who have infectious diseases.
23. #22, at the Pnimiot there are no special isolation wards.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.05.15)
The pnimiot ARE the isolation wards. My father caught an acute pneumonia while at a Pnimit at Wolfson. He beat it with the help of very potent antibiotics. Other problems he caught there he never beat.
