examine centre left. Lapid whose father tommy wined and dined olmert, absorbed winograd failed olmert 's ignorance in security. No amount of training can change lapid. its in the genes. herzog, whose father was a respected general overcompensated in raising a lawyer son who is gullible, naive, and pacifist in his bones. Livni is a proven liar, another flop diplomatically and a lousy lawyer to boot for crafting a UN resolution with no teeth. She is somewhat autistic inher misunderstanding of defensible borders. Notwithstanding 6 million died waiting for the ' US " to save them, herzog livni and lapid want to depend on the US and hand its fate to the US president. All three have no direct combat experience and would rather have the US defend israel. Jesus, moses and anyone else can come down from the heavens, no peace will occur, just short armistice arrangements. For israel to be strong, a shakeup at defense needs to ocuur. Eisencott wilbe an improvemen. bennett should be minsiter of defense as bibi is unable to pulla big trigger, and yaalon has been far too cautious.

Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.08.15)
Israelis, both radicalisms are dellusional. Of course, your State must not accept the frontiers that existed between 1948 and 1967. It would endanger you very much. But annexing more territories, even for religious motives, will only harm your international image, for the sake of your awful enemies. Be always firm, not forgetting your founding fathers's good principles.

The author is correct about the left, whose absurd stupidity can only be explained by an all consuming death wish. History proves the right is correct on all major issues from Oslo to Disengagement to Arafat to the Golan to...everything.

With all due respect, I'm not entirely sure that you have a grasp on the problem. Or you simply do not have the requisite knowledge of history. First of all, let's start with the fact that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people. We came from there. We were dispersed. Now we are home, OUR home, and it is indisputably ours. Whoever may have occupied our land from time to time does not change the fact that the land belongs to us. And, after a two thousand year interregnum, we have returned. Except the occupying interlopers -- the Arabs -- refuse to allow us to return. They claim that we are occupying their land, when the precise opposite is true. The world has spent the better part of two thousand plus years doing their very best to ensure that we are not welcome anywhere else. As bad as the pogroms against Jews were anywhere in the world, as bad as the accusations of blood libel were, as bad as the wholesale slaughter of the Jewish people by the Crusaders, as bad as the Inquisition was, as bad as the accusations of causing the plague were -- everything culminated in the horrors of the Holocaust. University professors, respected physicians and surgeons, eighteen Nobel Prize laureates, brilliant lawyers, successful businessmen -- it didn't matter who was consumed in the Holocaust. So, what are we to do? Where are we to go? Europe is once again killing Jews at worst, making Jewish life extremely difficult at best. Israel is our home. It is the only place in the world where we can be safe. We are here to stay. The Arabs need to understand this. If there is no peace, it is entirely the fault of the Arabs. I don't know how they come by their hatred of Jews; neither do I know how they come by their absolute passion for violence and terror. That's their problem. When they make it my problem, however, I have an obligation to defend my right to simply exist; simply to be. The Jewish people have seen civilizations come; we have seen them go. I assure you that we have no intention of caving to international hatred of the Jewish people, and we have no intention of carving up our land to accommodate the baseless insistence of invading interlopers that our land belongs to them. There's also the matter of six wars -- all started by the Arabs; all won by Israel. There are international conventions that govern what happens to the violent aggressor following loss in war. The rights of the victor are also well enshrined in history. If the Arabs want peace, let them show it. Thus far, they have failed to do so and even were they to do so, their societies are far too unstable to trust, and most will not be sustained for very much longer. In the meantime, while they are making up their minds, Israel must take steps to protect and defend the Jewish people and the sovereign State of Israel. No matter how many Arabs die in the process. The Jewish people have no choice. If you understand nothing else, please at least understand that. There is no place else for us to go.
10. Why does it always fall to Israel ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.15)
... to police the Middle East? Israel destroyed the Osirac reactor, only after eight years of failed diplomatic attempts to stop its construction and going live. Israel was then subjected to extraordinary condemnation by the entire world. Of course, less than a decade later, the West found itself embroiled in a war in 1991. Did anyone ever bother to thank Israel for having had the foresight to make sure that Iraq never became a nuclear power? Can you imagine a nuclear Iraq today? Israel also destroyed the Syrian nuclear reactor, again after years of failed attempts to solve the problem with diplomacy. Again, to widespread international condemnation. Take a look at Syria today. Hindsight is always 20-20, but Israel did much to save the world -- both with respect to Iraq and with respect to Syria. Can you imagine the consequences of a nuclear Syria today? And now, Iran. Israel has done as much as it can diplomatically. Israel has also made sure that Iranian centrifuges do not spin (STUXNET, DUQU, FLAME and a whole host of their very deadly cousins). Israel has destroyed the nuclear reactors at Fordow, Qazvin and Parchin. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. The American president seems to think that rapprochement with Iran is a really swell idea. He wants to unfreeze the trillions of dollars in Iranian funds that have been kept from the Iranians since 1979. The American people do not think that this is such a swell idea, but Obama has never worked for the American people -- he has a despicable, devastating private agenda, reaching back, no doubt to this Islamist sympathies. Israel is the lone stable nation in the turbulent sea which is the Middle East. The other day at a prayer breakfast, which was attended by major leaders of the Jewish and Christian communities, and the Dalai Lama, the president actually had the gross nerve to compare Christianity and the Crusades -- which were launched in order to take back the Holy Land from Moslem invaders -- with the actions of DAESH (ISIS). Incredible. But the American people have come to realize -- albeit a bit late -- that we have an idiot in the White House. Israel will probably clean up the Middle East for the West. But keep in mind, always, that there will be a price to pay. We've never exacted one before. This time, we will. Be prepared. We're tired of yanking the world's chestnuts out of the coals. We've done it; too many times, always garnering nothing but sanctions and criticism in return. There's going to be radical changes made in the Middle East. Demographic ones and territorial ones. That's the price the world is going to have to pay for ignoring Israel's warnings. We're out of patience waiting for the scales to fall from the West's eyes.
11. reality
Doc ,   Cape Town   (02.08.15)
Regretfully the truth. The left wants international love and acceptance and the illusion that it's possible drives them like lemmings to slaughter. Leftism is a western disease and Jews seem to be its founders and chief supporters around the world. Maybe that's why the world loves the Jews. What a revelation !
12. Objection!
(02.08.15)
With all due respect, the attorney is mixing the parliament israeli elections and the candidates campaign with the situation of war in some arabs countries, alleguing that because of that situation in the Middle East, Palestinians and Israelis can take seriously the peace negotiations. The attorney is trying to intimidate israelis voters
13. Objection!
(02.08.15)
The attorney is trying to intimidate readers of jewish faith or israeli nationality by suggesting that Palestinian Fatah- are included or can be associated to radical islam or Islamic Jihadists
14. Objection!!!
(02.08.15)
The attorney considers Israeli voters Shouldnt vote for Livni, Herzog’s or Netanyahu, comparing Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Ehud Barak, and Golda Meir from the left party. The attorney is trying to confuse the electoral voters, Netanyahu is a right wing leader

this article sums it up perfectly- the left in israel is still suffers from a delusional disorder- sign a piece of paper, surrender israel and everyone loves us? right? wrong. livni and hezog will dismantle israel and hand it to the arabs! you have been warned!
20. I understand - maybe
To Sarah B ,   London, UK.   (02.08.15)
You have argued passionately as you have done on previous occasions. I do not dismiss the sincerity of your assertions but sincerity is no substitute for truth. If 1500 plus years of 'occupation' of .the Land of Israel by Arabs or anyone else is deemed illegitimate then we must apply the same logic elsewhere. As a consequence the entire map of the world would change. There are better arguments: Israel is a fact, a nation-state accepted by most countries. By the same token, whatever you might think, the Palestinians are - now - a fact even though not (yet) a nation-state. To perpetuate the exclusionary zero-sum game of 'us or them' will work according to the principle of might is right. However, that is the path of imperialism, fascism and Bolshevism - and continual oppression and rebellion. Ms Horing and her acolytes seem to be happy with that. Good for them. Not for me.
21. Michael Farro Facebook Comment
Stan ,   Oneonta Ny   (02.08.15)
You are not even smart enough to realize that your comment proves the author's point You start with an irrelevant personal attack about the author' s geographic location rather than the substance of her argument. A classic leftist tactic. One' s arguments and facts are no less true based upon where they are made. Your comment about the settlements is mindless What did Israel get in return for removing the Gaza settlements? Removing the West Bank settlements and leaving will result in endless missile attacks and war. The world will still condemn and vilify Israel as the country defends itself Somebody needs to perform a serious study of the brain wiring of moronic leftists like yourself
22. To: Facebook Nigel Kersh
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.08.15)
I'm all for annexing Judea and Samaria. I believe the State of Israel will do precisely that. But under no circumstances will Israel extend citizen ship to the "palestinians." For one thing, they are all Jordanian citizens and, as such, are subject to repatriation -- whether the Kingdom of Jordan likes it or not. But there is a far better solution. Simply send the West Bank Arabs to Gaza. The "palestine" authority (principally Fatah) and Hamas have reached a unity arrangement. Let them build their "palestinian" state there. President al Sisi of Egypt has very generously offered to donate a portion of the Sinai so that overcrowding in the Strip will not be a problem. But even if he does not, Gaza is not the most overcrowded place on earth. It's up to the "palestinians." If they are desperate for a state of their own, they will take Gaza. Because they cannot have Israel. The "palestinians" could have had a state in 1947, and three times since. They rejected all proposals. They are not interested in peaceful coexistence. They want to exterminate the Jews and supplant Israel. That's not going to happen. The "palestinians" are all out of options. And peace -- from their perspective -- is not an option. What's left?

25. Dear Sara...
(02.08.15)
this is not about how many nuclear reactors the Israeli Army is capable to destroy or neutralize. and honestly since Daesh appeared into the Middle East picture, you should think also in countries that already have nuclear bombs China, North Korea, United States, United Kingdom, Russia and former Soviet countries as Ukraine and Belarus, Germany, France, India and Pakistan, Under NATO nuclear deals the United States provided nuclear weapons to European countries such as Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, and Turkey... I really hope no one of those nuclear countries decide to throw a nuclear bomb in iraq and syria with the excuse to make disappear Daesh while the most frightening effect of that nuclear explosion could cause suffering to thousands, millions of people in the Middle East. Pray something like that never happen. shalom

27. Thank you, Ms. Romano, for your insight and

for your thoughtful article. Considering the usual leftist drivel that Ynet tries to pass off as "commentary" or the obligatory "Bibi-bashing" articles, your article was an excellent piece of professional journalism. Thank you again.

It is always just this simple.
30. # 20 About facts
Moshe ,   Israel   (02.09.15)
There are facts with moral basis, and other without. The Jews returned to a land which has been their homeland for more than a millennium, and to which they had yearned and prayed for two millenniums. The Palestinians, on the other hand, have never been a nation, and have been created as such only to foil the Jewish salvation. By the way, as Britain's resident, you should be humble about writing on imperialism, because your county has been in the past the biggest empire in history. It oppressed also the Jews here, who wanted to create a haven for their people.
