richard sherwin ,   herzliyah israel   (02.08.15)
1. who appointed these bar-flies defenders of the hebrew language or israel? or those jerusalem kippah-pretenders? 2. we know who appointed the Druze soldiers, we know their record in and out of combat for loyalty to Israel... it's about time the police should stop their sexual games and the politicians their private power games and get together and STOP this kind of mob behavior. Publicize and imprison the bullying drunks and would be zealots.
2. Shame on Israelis
Dan   (02.08.15)
I am an Israeli Jew. Shame on Israel and on Israelis. Is hatred of all Arabs the only way we can find strength? This points to the collapse of the country.
3. Speechless . . .
Mike ,   RKDH   (02.08.15)
Had Druze officer during my time in IDF . . would have followed him to the end of the earth. Culprits should be thrown in prison. RKDH
4. can't blame only the ultra-Orthodox this time.
Rafi ,   US   (02.08.15)
Major soul-searching needed by all... Chief of Staff B. Gantz should visit soldier and his family to make amends. Meanwhile perpetrators should be found and severely punished - AS AN EXAMPLE.

9. Utterly disgraceful
American Sabra   (02.08.15)
What can be more shameful and cruel other than attacking a group of people that have been more loyal to the state of Israel than your average leftist from Tel Aviv or haredi from Ramat Beit Shemesh? I am embarrassed by the ignorance of my people who would descend to such deplorable lengths of bigotry and racism towards the very people who constantly put their lives on the line for us. I have nothing but admiration and respect towards the Druze. I wish Ramzi and speedy recovery and hope that justice is served to the thugs for their brutality.

A Jersalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.08.15)
An appropriate quote: "The exquisite gut-wrenching beautiful painful joyful sorrow I feel when I look at the ways of my people make me want to soar like an eagle, or kill myself depending upon what day it is." -Michael James
12. I sympathize, except I wouldn't dare speak

Hebrew in Europe or even in America in the public.
13. all Israelis feel embarrassed.
Mark ,   Rishon   (02.08.15)
It must be interrogated. Who did it should be brought before judge. But it's not enough. This time it should be discussed in length in order all Israelis feel embarrassed.
14. punish them very hard
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (02.08.15)
It's simply not ok that people - soldiers or others - are attacked fysically or verbally because they talking with each other their mother tongue. Already twice in a short period. Both are/were elite soldiers in the Tsahal. I remember in the units of my sons there were also Druzim and they were known as loyal soldiers, officers and fighters. Punish the attackers very hard!
15. A failing society under the right
Disillusioned   (02.08.15)
They've lost it under the Netanyahu government, which has stood by for years and watched as more and more extreme ideologies (Islam isn't the only one producing these) are tolerated by a government wanting only votes. I've been through 5 decades of various crises, in which the local Arab population never had to bear the brunt of people's upset or anger. All this changed with the increasingly radical SETTLERS, who became a law unto themselves and aren't touched because they vote Netanyahu. With the inexplicable rise of the rabble rouser Bennett, we can expect much, much worse. You see it on the talkbacks, especially the twisted right wingers who regularly inhabit the facebook connection: hate, hate, hate. It's becoming a contagion that is isolating this country and turning us into pariahs. Call it anti-Semitism if you like, but it's nothing but a bu;nch of jack-booted fascists allowed to run wild under a a grossly incompetent leadership. Sadly, we have seen the best of what Israel can do for the world, but we're sinking into religious brainwashed fervour that is copying Islamicists and bring us all to shame.

This is Anti-semitism.Jews are Antisemites also.Destroy the Terrorists houses.I forgot, jews are not terrorists, they only fight the so called terror and anti-semitism against them. Not that I like the semitic people,no I don't like them (arabs, jews arameans, maybe Iranians also semites etc. etc..)Semites think they are a higher race, especially the Talmudic jews (I hate them). The Torah says about Shem in Genesis 9 verses 26-27: And he said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem, and may Canaan be a slave to them.May God expand Japheth, and may He dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be a slave to them." That's probabyl the favourite chapter of the Torah for the Talmudic jews. They take this part out of context and some Talmudic jews think, that when the jewish Mashiach will come, all non jews will be their slaves.Canaanites knew also the Name of the Ancient Hebrew ONE יהוה (I don't know his real name,if HE exists at all).It is written in Psalms 87 verse 4: I will remind Rahab and Babylon of My beloved ones. Behold Philistia and Tyre with Cush, "This one was born there." Rahab was a canaanite woman (maybe prostitute), Rahab can also mean all inhabitants of Jericho where the beloved ones. The inhabitants of Tyre were also Canaanites.

indignation! "a nation of racists" etc.. Besides being highly nasty/shameful incident, it simply shows that after thousands of killed & maimed Israelis, Arabic is becoming less popular language among some less fortunate/educated parts of our society. So long as the burkas are proudly displayed at TAU I wouldn't worry. Imagine Jews parading with Star of David & yarmulke world over, had the scourge of terror been caused by Judaism! Not in bloody New York, not in stinking Paris would we be able to show our faces and that's for the last 30 years!!! For the young man it must be sad-sad event. My apologies.
18. Chillul Hashem and Treason...
Truth Hertz ,   UK   (02.08.15)
This is a desecration of Hashem's name and an act of treason against the State of Israel. The people who commit these sort of attacks are as anti-Israel as the self-hating Jews of the extreme left. On a personal note, a friend of mine had his life saved by his commanding officer during the 1982 Levanon war, the officer was Druze. Refuah Shlema to Razi.
19. #6 - for shame
ggg   (02.08.15)
The Druze are loyal citizens of this country. They fight for this country, they die for this country. They have full citizen's rights and as such have the right to go to a bar, to go anywhere, without being picked on because some brainless oafs with prejudices. With this kind of attitude, is it any wonder that the Israeli Arab people have been slowly turning against Jewish Israelis, when in fact most were happy and quiet until the radical elements took over? And now are oiks like yourself going to make the loyal, brave Druze also think twice about where their loyalties should lie? Shame on you.
20. Israeli Culture of Hatred
World Citizen ,   the world   (02.08.15)
Antisemitism as you call it is just a reaction to incidents like this. Your government has institutionalised racism and oppression in Israel and the occupied West Bank.
21. Such ignorance among many Sabras about who the Druze are!
Mark Schwartz ,   United States   (02.08.15)
This makes me so angry. The Druze serve with such pride. I have a Druze friend in Haifa with quite a successful business. He had to go to London on business a few years back and took EL AL. The young woman in security, (looked to him right out of the army) was questioning his historical Roman first name (Sever) and an unknown last name. She was giving him a hard time actually. Finally he said, "I am a Druze. do you know who we are?? I served 3 years in the IDF as did my three brothers, and we all do Miluim and we don't try to get out the service because we might be religious like yours do. You go ask your supervisor who we are!" She did so and came back with the supervisor, who apologized profusely. Sever said that the damage was already done, and that he would NEVER ever fly EL AL again, under any circumstances.
22. "It is unconceivable
Robert   (02.08.15)
Take your head out of the sand. Jews are taught that they are superior and nonjews are nonhumans. Since nonjews are less than human the superior jew can treat them any way the jew wants.
23. this hideous racist crime must be severly punished.

24. @Dan # 2 re "Shame on Israelis"
Mikhael   (02.10.15)
Shame on the eprobates who attacked the Israeli soldier (yes, the Druze soldier is an Israeli too) and anyone who justifies such an attack; no, not shame on Israelis as a group, because the vast majority do not condone such terrible behavior. Unfortunately, drunk idiots in a bar (where the young Druze-Israeli soldier was attacked) exist anywhere and sometimes do violent things and shout hateful things. If you do not say shame on all Muslims when many of their number commit terrorist outrages(and this attack, reprehensible as it was, pales in comparison); if you don't say "shame on Americans" (as a group) if a member of a minority is attacked, then as bad as this was, we don't need to say "shame on Israelis" because of these criminals-unless the Israeli criminal justice system refuses to arrest, prosecute and punish the perpetrators and is supported by most Israelis--which is not the case. I am confident the attackers will pay for their crimes.
