1. Bibi, PLEASE GO for the security of Israel
Can't wait for ,   Bibi's speech.   (02.08.15)
If these extreme radical leftists, Herzog, Lapid, Livni, Obama, Bidden don't want you to go, you MUST give the speech for the safety and security of Israel.
2. pathetic wimps.
marcel   (02.08.15)
Aside from arugable efficacy of a speech in congress, who the hell limits isrealis what they an and cannot do?? The whole left/centre left does this obnoxious grovelling that demeans soverignty. Yes we have diffeences, real differencew with obama and we will do what is good for our security, not concede to curry favour wiht obama. This is what some journalists, lapid, livni and herzog and the appeasement press want bibi to do. Vote for bennett and get rid of this pack of weaklings and losers. 70 years after the holocauts and israelis still tallk appesement!!
3. Congress vs Obama the Islamist
Brod ,   USA   (02.08.15)
Without Congress Approval, the administration is impotent in whatever agreement it formulates with other nation. Congress has the power of the purse. Congress has the power to declare War. Congress has the power to impeach a President. Congress represents the American people and protects the nation against any threats and attacks from within and without.
4. Role of Congress
Ronda ,   USA   (02.08.15)
There are many new members of Congress and Bibi needs to make Israel's case for stopping a treaty w/Iran that allows it to remain a threshold nuclear power. This is the last chance. Congress may assert itself-- it has the role of advice and consent in any "treaty". It would be a major mistake not to address Congress now while it can still put pressure on the administration. The only mistake was to wait till March-- the speech should have been given sooner.
5.  Netanyahus' visit to Congress
Heather Vance-Nelson ,   Austin, USA   (02.08.15)
First of all, I would like to apologize on behalf of a great number of Americans for our treatment of Israel since the Obama regime has been in office. We have not treated you with the same respect and help as the great ally as in times past. I would also like to point out that there is presently no partnership with our executive branch and it appears that the Obama regime is not interested in one... Shameful really. He really hasn't stood up for you at all! Congress really needs to here what Mr. Netanyahu has to say and if the Democrats want to boycott than I say their not doing their job to which they were voted into office to do. I for one would clearly like to here one of our true allies speak on American soil instead of the rhetoric of recent years past.
6. Mr. Yemini, you misunderstand US govt
Seth Greenberg ,   Israel   (02.08.15)
With all due respect Mr. Yemini, you show a lack of understanding of how US government works. You are right that the administration will put together the details of a deal with Iran. But the legislative branch can vote to place crushing sanctions on Iran which could render Obama's reckless deal DOA. In order to get those sanctions passed, both houses of Congress must pass measures with a 2/3 majority. Only then can they override the president's veto. So, if the administration is intransigent, Bibi should, in fact, deliver his message to Congress. They are the only body in the government that can stop the deal from going through.
7. Response
Sidney ,   USA   (02.08.15)
1. Congress has a veto over foreign policy. "He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors," 2. Obama has an ego problem, he thinks that he knows better about what is good for Israel than its elected officials.
8. Come speak to our Congress, Bibi!
Sam ,   NY   (02.08.15)
I'm certain many Americans are looking forward to having the Prime Minister of Israel - Benjamin Netanyahu come to speak to our Congress. Our countries have many common values, and many common goals. It is only right that we should have more public dialogue and proudly show the world that we are allies. Obama has yet to realize that the Muslim world understands strength, not cowering. This is something that Netanyahu understands, and that we Americans should learn more about. Americans are a well-meaning people, but sometimes we can be a bit naive. Likely due to our geographical and linguistic isolation in the world. Looking forward to hearing Bibi speak and to see most, if not all, of the congress attend!
9. Ben-Dror forgot the basis of democrecy
EZEKIAL HAIM ,   LONDON UK   (02.08.15)
Obma is the head of the Executive ,that is the government. The lawmakers are the Senate and The House of Representatives. With all his power Obama cannot make laws.He can sign laws or he can veto laws.Sanctions are enshrined in law and can be extended or removed only by laws.
10. Bibi Congress
Benjamin E. ,   Tel Aviv   (02.08.15)
Let Israel defend Israel. Isn't it time Israel just defends herself. The entire world dislikes Iran. Just do what is right. Simple. Are you afraid from more Jew haters? As if this is something new. Read your Bible.
11. Netanyahu and Churchill
Reuven ,   Zichron yaakov   (02.08.15)
The only person to date to have been invited to speak to congress three times is Winston Churchill. Netanyahu plans to be the second such person and so ther is no way that he will cancel. Israel's image in the USA is less important to him than having this personal achievement and it must be worth plenty for future speaking engagements. Some comparison between Churchill and Netanyahu!!!
12. US Congress has sole power to ratify treaties
C   (02.08.15)
congress does not approve of obama's capitulation deal with the shia terror regime. congress has the power to stop this deal. that is why obama is so scared of netanyahu's speech to congress.
13. please, save us...
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (02.08.15)
The writer of this article has good arguments. But,... he forgets or he knows very well that if, at the end, Netanyahu will cancel his trip to Washington and his speech to the Congress he will maybe lose the election battle. I not always agree with Netanyahu, but I don't trust at all Herzog. For the critics: from father's side socialism (social democracy) was the max. But... after seeing our former president as party leader, prime minister, president, etc...: oi, oi, oi... save Israel, save us from evil.
14. Yemini
(02.08.15)
Obama hates Israel and Netanyahu from day 1: remember how he called Abbas as the first world leader, bowed and scraped to the Saudi dictator, let the world see how he talked to Netanyahu with his feet up, saved Hamas from the IDF in 2014 and gloated that he helped Iran get nukes in the infamous "chickensh*t" scandal? Netanyahu was invited by the American people by their representatives to talk about Iranian nukes. That Obama doesn't like it is an issue he should take up with the American people.
15. Yemini makes one mistake
(02.09.15)
For better or worse, Obama believes that it is a US interest to have a nuclear Iran, and has ignored the concern of Israel as well as former US allies like Egypt and Saudi Arabia to reach this goal. Netanyahu has spent 6 years trying to convince Obama that this is a bad idea, but to no avail. Yemini can say that Netanyahu is wrong and Iranian nukes are good for Israel, but if Yemini agrees that Iranian nukes are bad, he should understand that Netanyahu has no choice but to go to Congress.
16. ego
rm ,   amsterdam NL   (02.09.15)
Funny how Israel's little internet warriors now make it about Obama's ego. When in fact it's Nethanyahu's monumental ego that's hurting his own cause.
17. Israel technology advances...
Adler Saying's   (02.09.15)
Maybe Israel should broadcast Netanyahu speech to US Congress by Satellite, live from the Israeli Knesset in Jerusalem. They can put a Screen play in the Congress to watch and hear the speech. Everybody running for next elections in Israel will be more than happy, and Americans will fall in love with Israel . Bibi, think about it! Cheers
18. Go Bibi Go, And Bring That Bomb Drawing You Showed At UN
World Citzen ,   the world   (02.09.15)
That will make you look so re-electable.
