It is not "Israeli import restrictions" that lead to Gazans building makeshift homes. It is the decision by the democratically elected government of Gaza to launch a war against Israel, where it based its soldiers in civilians homes, forcing Israel to destroy these homes. Then again, remember that the Gazans are about 1 million times better off than the Copts, the Kurds, the Yazidi or Christians anywhere in the Middle East.
