1. only UNSCR's under Chapter VII would be binding
CJK   (03.12.15)
such reslutions would be binding only if iran would respect its obligations under the NPT.
2. Treasonous fools
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (03.12.15)
They are making a big mistake. They are attempting to undermine the POTUS. It will not work and it will backfire. The American people will kick those traitorous morons to the curb in the next elections. These are the same fools that got us into the Iraq mess and now they want to go into Iran. The American people do not want war, they want more money, cheaper gas and low prices, affordable housing with a swimming pool and big affordable SUV's. They can go the Bibi route and get low salaries, small expensive houses with small cars and expensive gas and expensive goods.
3. #1 - If the UNSC votes to lift sanctions,
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (03.13.15)
the USA congress critters can do NOTHING. Even if the USA tries to veto the resolution lifting sancations, the rest of the countries on earth will simply drop all the sanctions anyway. And is Russia and China really want to make the USA look stupid, they can just invoke UNGA resolution 377 and shove through lifting of sanctions over the USA veto (just like the USA did to Russia many years ago). UNGA 377 is BINDING on all countries.
4. Obama insists on being a dictator
C   (03.13.15)
obama had decided since the beginning of his presidency to conduct a very secretive operation out of sight of the press and without input from the legally elected representatives of the american people, the us congress. thus far the press has allowed him to engage in this type of governance. the american congress has mostly totally acquiesced in obama's dictatorial ways. by writing the iran letter, finally forty seven republican senators, led by a us veteran, challenged obama to his utter surprise and dismay. yet, as is wont his habit, obama has once again challenged the us constitution and the congress by going to the united nations for authorisation to do that which he cannot do under the us constitution. one is left to wonder whether the passive, timid, paralysed senate will finally unclench obama's fists and take back their usurped power and exercise their authority.

unless you want a dictatorship, us congress has the authority to advice and consent and to ratify international treaties. obama can call the deal whatever he wants, but the deal is a treaty. otherwise, it is not a legally binding document.
