I always am concerned about Israeli poverty, and it has been an issue as long as I have been politically aware-- but I'm not convinced that it is any worse now than in the past. But the effort to picture Netanyahu as being either uncaring, or somehow responsible for worsening poverty-- both of which could not be more untrue-- is now a long standing tradition of the Israeli left. And that is where I think Portman is coming from. Interesting that she hardly ever chooses to express a "concern" about anything that is happening in Israel.
