Does this mean Gal-On won't go away like she promised yesterday? I hope not,. If she stays it will prove she isn't trust worthy, a person of her word.

Hi friends, I have a question - maybe someone in Israel could help me with an answer. If the Arab block have 13 seats out of 120, then why are we being told that the Arabs make up 20% of Israel's population? Sounds more like 12% no? Maybe Christian Arabs vote for Jewish parties? Thank you in advance for your answers.

Abbas and Netanyahu must extricate themselves from the shackles of 'holistic' solutions The economic, security and other issues need to be separated from statehood negotiations and let each take its natural course We cant hold the well being and prosperity of Palestinians in the West Bank hostage to the progress of Statehood negotiations As the dust of Israeli elections settles, we need to clear the space from the debris of threats of litigation, unilateral declarations, unilateral settlement expansion, withholding of Palestinian taxes, incitement on both sides and focus on face to face bilateral confidence building measures incrementally bit by bit by bit.... Starting right now

It's true that about 20% of Israel's population is Arab, but around 20% of the Israeli Arab population is non-Muslim (Christian and Druze Arabs are far more likely to vote for Jewish parties, in fact some serve as representatives in them). Israeli-Arab voter turnout is also lower than the national average. Finally, some other Arabs vote for more mainstream parties, like Labor and Meretz, and even right-wing parties. In particular, the right-wing party Shas gets lots of Arab votes, especially among the Bedouin, over its social policies.

lots of Jews (like myself) who voted for the joint list

Median age of Israeli Jews is 31,6 and Israeli Arabs just 21,1. That means that nearly half of the Arabs are not old enough to vote in elections. Some Arabs also boycotted elections, but I think that there was enough Jews that voted for the Joined List to counter that loss of votes. Without new election laws that forced Arabs to Joined List, there would be maybe only 7-9 arabs in Knesset.
