If you think eating meat you purchase from the store is any less barbaric you are wholly incorrect. Those animals suffer incredibly in order for the masses to enjoy.

your prejudice is showing. the "passover sacrifice" is eaten by people, and certain parts, including skin and entrails, are burnt. in so far as it represents a sharing in food that has been dedicated to a higher good, it is an "elevation" of the person, not some weird sort of "feeding" of a god. (why would a non-corporeal creator of the universe need "food", or "praise", from humans?) it's easy to ridicule what you don't understand.
