1. Lt. Col Tamir Elazar is
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.09.15)
A brave, intelligent man that many Israelis could learn from - both the white and the black... The stories of the Ethiopian aliyah in general should be told in the media. Most of us have no idea of the deprivation they have undergone to come here.
2. message to our Ethiopian brethren

first, their courage in their flight from ethiopia to israel, walking by foot for many months is totally admirable. second, they need to have patience. many of those who made aliya before the declaration of independence, during the war of independence, and for years thereafter, lived in very difficult circumstances. many lacked running water and electricity and lived in tent cities or shacks. the adults suffered a lot but the children, being children were more able to cope. children of different backgrounds teased each other. some ashkenazim did not want their daughters to marry non-ashkenazim. yet, many ashkenzi girls married men from mizrachi and sephardi background. today, israelis marry whomever they love. the ethiopians need to be patient. they need to encourage young people to do their very best in school, in the army, in their jobs. it will not be easy, but they will succeed. they can achieve whatever they want, as long as they want it.
3. must get rid of white.......
Calabi ,   Sydney Aust   (05.10.15)
Should Israel be divided into two kingdom again? Today is black and white Israelite? Israel is the only country that she must fight for her existence. The most precious assets are the one who are willing to go to Israel and carry out duty to fight. White racist police should be punished heavily! God bless Israel with UNITY!
4. Patience?
Mordechai ,   San Francisco, CA   (05.10.15)
The problem with the phrase they need to be patient is that most of them were born in Israel and how much more patient should an Israeli be? This excuse is often used to take advantage of people in the IDF and so it's a loaded term, regardless of your ostensibly good intentions. Personally, I have no patience for any kind of racial discrimination, period.
5. Behatzlacha!

you sound rather self righteous, especially writing from sf. israel has survived wars and many dificulties because people are patient. it would not have been possible to build a country from scratch had people not been patient, hard working. rioting will not improve anyone's position. nor can legislation change people's feelings. as i said, and i repeat, the ethiopian community must be patient. their leaders and the parents need to eencourage their young to do well and give them as much hope as possible. above all, they must reject foreign influences. no foreigners wish them well. foreigners only want to exploit them to harm israel, their homeland.
