After learning how much some of the port workers in Ashdod earn in benefits and wages, I'm not surprised that they are threatened by a new port opening.
2. Time to start charging the unions for these strikes
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NYC   (05.28.15)
For years I have felt that the Histadrut and Israeli unions in general have had an unreasonable stranglehold on the economy. It is time to start penalizing them for their behavior. Either by lawsuits to get them to pay lost revenue or expenses related to illegal strikes or at least court fines and contempt of court penalties.

Whether it's due to cartel industries or 'good old boys' at the docks. More ports will bring competition and lower prices. build the new ports quickly, break the cartel food industries and allow in more foreign products. It will be better for everyone.
