Alan ,   SA   (06.27.15)
no problem.... How many Israelis killed by them post Shalit ,how many attacksand what about that guy running the show from Turkey?
2. Sharon's fault
Dan   (06.27.15)
He didn't know what would follow withdrawal, but like the impulsive fool he was, he decided to gamble with Israel's security. Blame him, not the left, for the trouble Gaza has brought.
3. Israel's "intelligence" unit failed again.
David ,   Hartford USA   (06.27.15)
In '73 the intelligence geniuses said there would be no war while they were actually watching the Egyptians prepare for it. And now we learn that the intelligence unit again was useless. How does today's intelligence unit compare to the idiots of the past? That would be something to write about.
4. It was no mistake, but Sharon's divide and conquer plan
Harri ,   EU   (06.27.15)
Sharon would have succeeded, but without Sharon there was only divide and no conquer. Sharon was an exceptional right wing politician, because he could see the whole picture beyond the next elections.
5. If just about every member of the Isr
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.27.15)
public could see what would happen there at the time clearer than sunlight how F stupid must be those in the leadership who could not. I believe it was the Politicians not the IDF

8. Evacuation from Gaza
Arthur Cohn ,   Palo Alto, USA   (06.28.15)
In 2005 I put on my orange shirt, wen to the Israel Consulate in San Francisco and protested against the Gaza evacuation. While most of the other protesters were ruing thr deleterious effect of the evacuation on the Jewish residents of Gaza, My major objection was that the evacuation would empower Hamas ; who would claim that it was because of the missiles which they were shooting at the Jewish targets in Gaza, that Israel evacuated. Well, Israel evacuated, and Hamas took over.
9. Hamastan = divide & conquer
Michael Storch ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.28.15)
Splitting a Gaza under Hamas from a 'West Bank' under Fatah was the second goal of the pullout. Divide & conquer. Hamastan was Sharon's harsh blow against Palestinian national aspirations, think of them what you might.
10. Everybody knew what will happen because
(06.28.15)
HAARETZ wrote "that after Israel will leave, Hamas will show these Likudnuks in Askelon and Ashdod who is the best". Of course, Sharon knew, Weisglass knew and everybody else knew. But Sharon probably did not want to to JAIL, This everybody knew.
11. Hamastan in Gaza
Richard Hirschler ,   Budapest Hungary   (07.03.15)
I hope the IDF will be better prepared when it comes to ISISstan...
12. weisglass, tommy lapid, and farkkash
mark   (07.27.15)
weisglass in particular is a failure along the lines of livni and doesn't have a clue on borders and security. Yair lapid who learned his strategy from his father tommylapid and olmert, learned from 2 security failures who have cost over 1 million israelis hearache and trauma. \morover, yair is an arrogant dunce-watch the famous charlie rose interview to clearly see how unfit he is. \\farkash, diskin and dichter weere all in error about hamas taking over the strip and tthe resulting implications. Yaalon was correct in his assessments and told sharon to his face he was in error. Sharon goofed because he was in legal troublle and that louse weisglas aided and abetted by the lousy mk tommy lapid influenced sharon to take the change. \shalit tells weisglas- go to hell and may you suffer like southern israelis have for your rotten plan which has harmed israel.
13. The chiefs are dreaming
Rozie   (07.27.15)
All the chiefs of the Shein Bet are living in a LaLa land. They are leftists that don't see the real truth. Amazing how these individuals drove Israel into such horrible situation. They are the Avi Dichters, Yuval Diskin, Galant and the like. They have big mouths and live on clouds. Very sad story.
14. Sharon, the bulldozer
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (07.29.15)
Sharon, the bulldozer, instead of digging his own grave and ruining his great reputation, screwed up and instead died and left us with a serious mess. But let us not fall into the 'blame game' as to who is to blame, but rather put our heads together as to what we can do to stop Gaza terror and get rid of Hamas.
15. US Chief of Staffs: no pullout
dave ,   Tzfat Israel   (08.20.15)
Earle Wheller, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff USA, signed a top secret document after the Six day War. The map marked the areas of the newly conquered territory, which Israel required for defense. The Golan, West Bank, the area south and south-west of Eilat, and the Gaza Strip were marked.
16. thinking based on ideology not common sense
Nick Z ,   New York, NY   (08.21.15)
When will we learn from history? These ideology-driven arguments are very much like the arguments for the Iran deal (ignore all the problems to "avoid a war" that might well be caused by aftermath of the deal), or for not defeating Hamas (who caused several wars despite the disengagement) because they are "better" than ISIS: "If it continues and there is no Palestinian group to stop it, Israel will be forced to go back into the Gaza Strip. At the moment, there's no room for Israel to intervene, as Fatah is still the dominant group against the fundamentalists and we shouldn't get in the way."
17. Hamastan? No, try this...
David ,   Denver, USA   (08.21.15)
I've been to Gaza. Hamastan is too easy. It really should be called Trashcanistan.
18. EVERY Israeli retreat is an absolute disaster!
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.26.15)
How could anyone, with a functioning brain, NOT have known Israel's retreat from Gaza would be an absolutely disaster? EVERY single Israeli retreat is an absolute disaster.
19. IDF generally has good brains
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (09.06.15)
But it seems that Sharon ramrodded this stupid and foolish pull out and did not really understand the implications. Sharon had a background of rash actions. Since he was highly respected and successful, no one challenged him. It is a shame that this one blemish has ruined Sharon's reputation, but it is not a small blemish, it is a gigantic blemish that even ten years afterwards we are paying the high price of his rashness.
20. Sharon left Gaza in deal to save sons from prosecution?
Murray the K ,   Brooklyn, NY   (09.08.15)
21. I'm surprise .................
Calabi ,   Sydney Aust   (09.09.15)
We all knew it and I believe so Israel knew better and the security council must was over political. This bring me back to the time when Israeli was serious with the USA to guarantee her future, trade land for peace. It chill my spinal for sometimes. Thank God it did not happen otherwise 30,000 Israeli need to sacrifice their life to reclaim Golan Height today!!!!!!!!!!! God bless Israel & Jerusalem
22. Another penetrating glimpse of the obvious
WB ,   Be'er Sheba Israel   (09.11.15)
Hamas dominance in Aza was facilitated by the highest echelons of Israeli government and society. It was one 'slice' of the infamous 'salami slice' strategy aimed at reducing the State of Israel to a small, indefensible area almost totally disconnected from our historical land. This will happen in spite of all the anti-religious (Progressive, Marxist) wishful thinking about 'peace', religious blind faith in a magical deity who will intercede on our behalf, or no less magical wonder weapons (Iron Dome, et. al.). A future generation, with its sense of purpose and identity restored, will wonder what caused the mass psychosis that prevents us from seeing reality (things as they actually are, not what we wish or hope them to be or become).
