While most of the other protesters were ruing thr deleterious effect of the evacuation on the Jewish residents of Gaza, My major objection was that the evacuation would empower Hamas ; who would claim that it was because of the missiles which they were shooting at the Jewish targets in Gaza, that Israel evacuated. Well, Israel evacuated, and Hamas took over.

Splitting a Gaza under Hamas from a 'West Bank' under Fatah was the second goal of the pullout. Divide & conquer. Hamastan was Sharon's harsh blow against Palestinian national aspirations, think of them what you might.
