We will know soon of course, but the actions of Obama's secretary of state suggest that an absence of some kind of an agreement is not a possibility. Close observers of Obama may incidentally recall that he has done exactly this sort of thing in the past-- suggesting that he estimates the chances of something that is imminently going to happen, to be relatively low. He said exactly the same thing in the days and weeks leading up to thhr intrrim agreement with Iran. And he also said something similar on the eve of the passage of his health care law. It alpears to be his favorite disarming tactic-- his way of lulling potential adversaries to sleep. I imagine that the concessions that he is prepared to make are so sweeping that he feels that he feels that he stands something to gain by being duplicitous, at this moment, with even the congressional Democrats. But we will all know very soon. Anybody who stands on the side of Israel's defense should hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
