3. Where are rabbis?
Sidney ,   California   (07.25.15)
If they were not so busy enforcing medieval nonsense, they would declare all animal based food as not kosher. but that would require thinking and initiative which is alien to them. I oppose Jewish control of the Temple Mount because these guys would want animal sacrifice.
4. Not true
Sidney ,   California   (07.25.15)
Bianca Lewis · Sales at DBmaestro - Database Development I applaud vegans and their stance for animal rights. Even better will be a humane approach to the treatment of animals for meat, fish etc. It is a natural part of the human diet for close on 3 million years (agriculture only 12k of these). Eating meat etc. is important and healthy, if only it was possible without animal cruelty! I became a vegetarian 50 years ago and am alive at 90.
5. Veganism is consistent with basic Jewish teachings
Richard Schwartz ,   Staten Island, USA   (07.26.15)
As president emeritus of Jewish Vegetarians of North America (JVNA), I am pleased with this news. I hope the shift toward vegan diets will be extended since these diets are most consistent with Jewish mandates to preserve our health, treat animals with compassion, protect the environment, conserve natural resources, and help hungry people.

Also, animal-based diets are contributing significantly to an epidemic of killer diseases and to ciImate change and other environmental threats to humanity. For further information about Jewish teachings on vegetarianism, please visit the JVNA website (www.JewishVeg.com) and please see our acclaimed documentary, "A Sacred Duty: Applying Jewish Values to Help Heal the World," at ASacredDuty.com.
