Not sure about the security at Ben Gurion airport. My 18 year old daughter had a similar problem on her way back to Australia via Hong Kong after a year program in Israel about 5 years ago. Hong Kong airport security found 9 bullets in her luggage that had been forgotten in her bag, and missed by security at Ben Gurion.. She spent a day in lock up. After lots of legal stuff she got a small fine and was allowed to return home. I was shocked that people could get bullets through security in Israel....and onto ElAl planes.

Isn't the taking rifle rounds against IDF rules and Israeli law? BTW when I visited Israel with my carry on bag, it wasn't even inspected at Ben Gurion. But then again I am cleared for US Global Entry (extremely low security risk).

obviously a lot of folks are forgetful but the gov and airport authorities are aware and should act in prevention
