All respect to President Rivlin in reminding us that differences and lack of understanding between us are the cause throughout our history of our destruction. We need to find ways to live together in understanding even if we dnt always agree
2. sinat chinam
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (07.27.15)
A Rabbi once told me there is no such thing as sinat chinam ( senseless hatred). Every hatred is being supported by a reason that the hater gives. He said we have to read sinat hinam as sinat hen am (the hatred of the beauty of the Jewish people ). That's why Rivlin's innitiative is a beautiful one
3. a fruitless effort
Norman Gellman ,   Israel   (07.28.15)
The presidents attempt is unfortunately inadequate. No equality to all Jews can be achieved as long as official Israel gives exclusive power to the ultra-orthodox minority who do not recognize other strains in Judaism. If a minister i an other country had come out with a disgraceful description of part of the population, that minister would have to resign, here the Chas minister is still in power.
4. 2 Robert With due respect to your ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM.   (07.28.15)
Rabbi, may i humbly show a different facet of the truth. In my opinion ,all hatred are chinam.Since hatred doesn't solve the problem,on the contrary it causes to lose sight of what the goal should be ,and to not see clearly how to act effectively. However,i agree with you ,Rivlin's initiative is praise worthy and i hope he will succeed.
