1. Seperate state from religion

2. One doesn't want to imagine
A Humanist ,   TA   (09.10.15)
..what response here in Israel would be triggered, if a high-ranking British, French or Polish bishop would conclude his interview with the words: In other words, in a utopia, in a Christian state, Judaism should be eradicated, just not now? "No. We have to see." But for some sick, disgusting reason nobody in Israel seems to care if those words are being used by one of his own!!! This proves how widely racism is accepted in society and makes Israel a far more racist country than any other democracy it likes to compare itself with.
3. Maimonides
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (09.10.15)
Maimonides ruled that Christianity of 850 years back was idolatrous. That does not necessarily apply to present day Christioans who tend not to have graven images or sacred statues. Our Sages rule that Islam and Christianity are monotheistic
4. Let the State decide who is Jew
Avi L.   (09.10.15)
Let the State decide who is Jew, who wants to join the fate of the Jewish People and let religious public pay for rabbis since they are the ones using their services. The rest can pay a fee when they are using religious services.
5. I am a fifth generation Israeli
Raptor   (09.10.15)
I emphasize the word Israeli. These Rabbis and their institutions make me want to renounce Judaism, I do not wish to be called a Jew, I do not wish to associate with them in any way. I wish to be called Israeli, that is my nationality, I do not have a religion and do not wish for others to impose any religious edicts on me. I hate religion and I despise religious leaders.
6. #2. Just because he's in power doesn't mean we don't care.
5th generation ,   Israel   (09.10.15)
Note the rest of the article - full of acknowledgement of disapproval. Chief rabbis embarrass Jews everywhere with their dogma, as do high-ranking religious leaders of other faiths betray most of their followers.
7. I have a simple question of the Chief Rabbi
Al   (09.10.15)
Sir, did any one of your sons or daughters serve in the IDF? My son just finished the army, did two tours in Gaza and was in one of the first tanks that entered Gaza last year. I went thru living hell for almost 7 weeks, being sick with worry as to his well being. Sir, if non of your children served in the IDF, I have nothing to hear or learn from you. What you think and what you feel is irrelevant to me and most parents whose children serve in the IDF, defending the laggards that you work so hard in excusing and defending. There is a complete disconnect between me and you. If your children do not serve or did not serve, I have nothing to hear from you. You and yours are a waste of space. If your children did serve or they do serve in the IDF than I apologize.
8. Way too many rabbis< less rabbi, more freedoms for the state
Mighty Jew Young ,   America is beautiful   (09.11.15)
there is an algorythm that describes democratic freedom loving Israel vs. greedy heredi/ultras/nepotistic rabbinate (minus) rabbinate choke hold+Democracy+freedom of choice/religious equality>makes life better. Halaluyah! major (minus) rabinate+ exercize of free will+ human progress and growth. Israeli LIVES! Halaluyah! much less (minus) rabbinate = less targeting and scapegoating of Jewish people. Halaluyah! separation of rabbinate from government = future Israeli success! Halaluyah! clean out the religious toilet Israel has been led by the nose through "fear" and wholly IGNORANCE!
9. Rabbi Lau and his children's military status
JAR ,   Meitar, Israel   (09.11.15)
According to an earlier ynet article, Rabbi Lau is a major in the IDF reserves (Intelligence). He is 49 years old, so its unlikely that he has more than one child eligible for service in the IDF.
10. 5 Raptor; Your post reminds me...
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (09.11.15)
of a couple of friends who became religious without being haredi. The father of the wife hates so much religious people he doesn't want to speak with his daughter unless she accepts to eat non kosher food in his house. Your hate towards religion stems from intolerance toward religious people who should behave, in your opinion, without concessions, 100% according their beliefs. Since it is not like that, you are disappointed and hate them. If I have one advice, try to be as forgiving to their faults as you are to yours or those close to you
11. STAY AWAY OR INTERMINGLE?
...DACON9   (09.13.15)
"Christians may not be so devoted to idolatry today" but they are certainly devoted to converting any and every Jew to accept and bow to their dead mangod. Xtian do not respect differences from them and their doctrine is to 'help the Jew go to Israel so t heir deadgods can make a second coming'. No matter what the reasons presented to Rabbi Lau their is a practical reason to not accept xtiansd as 'friends'...WANNA HEAR IT? BECAUSE HASHEM SAID TO SEPARATE FROM THE OTHER NATIONS SO ISRAEL DOES NOT LEARN THEIR WAYS. Therefore, obviously their ways are not acceptable to Israel
12. If Reform exists since 19th century ...
Israeli citizen ,   abroad   (09.14.15)
It should be a Reform rabbinate as well. Reform Judaism exists before State of Israel establishment , whether you like it or not.
