Talk about changing the balance of power in Israel's neighborhood! Israel had better keep a keen eye on what Russia, Iran, Syria and Hezbullah are doing and be prepared to act fast and furious if red lines are crossed (no pun against Obama intended) because you can bet your bottom dollar that the USA under Obama is not coming to Israel's rescue if Israel has to mix it up with Russia.
With that said, Israel can not afford to leave it's security in the hands of someone like Putin, no matter what assurances he give Bibi.
I can only presume that Bibi has made clear to Putin that Israel "allowing" Russia onto her border brings with it certain responsibilities in reigning in Russia's surrogates, as well as articulating an exit strategy once Assad is firmly in power.
