(As at the woman at the Afula bus station) But most of the videos show that stopping the perp NOW is essential, and that means shooting repeatedly at the center of mass.

It's easy to say what should have been done afterwards. When someone begins an attack it is very hard to know what the dimension of their intentions are (i.e. stone, knife, gun, bomb etc). If you are certain that they are an attacker and not merely asking for a light, then it is reasonable to shoot to kill, as, at the time you have no way to know if they are wired to a bomb. Anything else is an endangerment of yourself and those around you.

Criminal activity goes through the courts, terrorist activity gets 'resolved' as quickly and permanently as possible. No terrorist should expect to be arrested, spend years in prison at Israel's expense, and then be released as a 'goodwill gesture.' Those days are gone for good. Terrorists should expect to be killed. Period.

No one has sumarrily sentenced anybody to death, or anything else. In the middle of a knife or vehicular attack, where people can be killed in less than a second, there isn't time to weigh up the options - the terrorist has to be stopped. If they end up dead it's on their head.

Examine our 4th amendment here in the United States. It governs all seizure and use of force issues. Your police are operating, to some degree, on a similar principle. The rules of shooting someone haven't changed and they apply to terrorists, criminals and anyone in the process of murdering someone else. The problem is when everyone gets trigger-happy and start shooting the wrong person as happened when one Policeman shot another as he tackled a terrorist. Every case needs to be dealt with individually, most of the cases were warranted, some were not( but not necessarily illegal as there is room for misjudgement). And yes a Jew stabbing Arabs or a man stabbing his wife should be shot dead to prevent the killing of innocents.
