Israel as indeed changed the status quo of access to the temple mount. According to Wikipedia that is basing its statistics on the CIA Factbook, over 90% of the Palestinian population is under the age of 50. By limiting access to the temple mount to those Palestinians over 50, Israel is denying access to 90% of Palestinians! No wonder there is violence.

Obama's 'even-handness' is absurd. This is truly a case of moral clarity, where the Muslims are nearly 100% to blame for the incitement and violence. I think it is time to raise money and quietly pay as many Muslims as possible in Israel and the W. Bank to leave. They would be a lot happier in Europe. I never thought I would reach this conclusion, but it is clear to me now that the majority (or at least a large minority) will never be willing to live in peace with the Jews.

The so-called status quo does not prohibit a joint patrol of Israeli and PA police-not army-of the Temple Mount. This would mitigate the alleged fears of an Israeli takeover and perhaps alleviate tensions.
