Stray cats are very important to all neighborhoods - they eat the mice and rats that come around to eat from filled garbage bins...by eating the mice and rats they help curb the snakes in particular the Nachash Tzefah since mice and rats attract snakes as food...we should continue the present method of curbing an overflow if cats but let them remain to keep our areas safe!

This plan will not work. All nations have a problem with strays. The best solution is to keep the numbers down by neutering and for locals to care and feed the cats. It does not cost a fortune to feed a cat. Cats provide a wonderful service to man by keeping down the rodent population. It is the least we can to in repayment. There should be a civic education program to make people aware of the benefits cats bring to a town if they are cared for properly by the locals..

Honestly if people would just stop feeding the cats and allow them to hunt like they're supposed to, when food sources get too low the cats will die off naturally. It's not rocket science. Fine people for feeding the animals. It will stop the problem.

They are given anesthesia before the surgery so there is no suffering. The alternative is there will be an explosion in the stray cat population & many will starve even if every Israeli feeds them. Stray cats can also get rabies which can infect people if they are bitten. As for the biblical commandment to "be fruitful & multiply" this wasn't intended for abandoned pets who cannot care for themselves.
