1. Excuse me.
Brad ,   USA   (12.29.15)
Fascism is left wing government which controls the means of production. Democracy is 50% + 1 ruling over everyone else, which is one small step from socialism. A Republic is government by the people, of the people, and for the people. We used to have that in America.
2. my momma done tole me
Ari G. ,   Afula   (12.29.15)
My mother (my she rest in peace) used to tell me that all extremes are bad and need to be avoided. She is correct. It turns out that the Rambam also agrees with my mother saying to avoid all extremes except in manners of anger - just in anger don't blow up. But it is certainly true of politics - extremes have caused much problems through out the centuries....
3. Mr. Yemini, very clear thank you
Jew-C ,   JewLandia (Israel)   (12.29.15)
and Sir, just in case you haven't met with young people recently, may I share with you that at our Shabbat table just this past week a group of young people composed of soldiers, national service youngsters, and university students had a conversation which echoes your opinion piece. Your opinion piece and the young folks conversation come to tell us that there is a good possibility that our Democratic State of Israel will continue to flourish...after all understanding a problem is the first 75-80 steps towards solving it.
4. Evaluating from FB TBs u are good as gold!
Jew-C ,   JewLandia (Israel)   (12.29.15)
You see Ben-Dror, you know that I know that you know that the more they personally attack the less of substance they have to say because your Op-ed piece hits the nail on the head! So just taking a moment to send a bit of gratuitous "firgun" and may you go from strength to strength!
5. Ben Yemini on Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell
Rony Blum ,   NY   (12.29.15)
You suggested that the brave and brilliant Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell has "adopted fascism." With all due respect - 1 - Quickly apologizing to Prof. Sternhell should be your top priority... 2 - Studying fascism and totalitarianism would give you an analytical toolbox for this topic.
6. One is for Massacres if necessary if possible
Zechariah   (12.29.15)
The ones who kill people in their homes Arabs or Jews are protoNazis the ones who want Purity of Arms by the Jews are niave about the Enemy the Enemy that is for Genocide or Massive Expulsion of Jews from Israel . Sadism and Cruelty to Peoples that are willing to coexist without violence is against and in a bad way Post Shoah Judaism .
7. Since when is the Shin Bet from the far right?
When will Israel ,   wake up?   (12.29.15)
The Shin Bet undercover agents who planned the bloody wedding and then doctored it to please their evil intentions and condemnations against innocent people, are from the same fanatical left as the ones breaking the silence. WHEN WILL ISRAEL WAKE UP AND STOP THE LEFT FROM DESTROYING ISRAEL and DESTROYING RELIGIOUS JEWS?
8. the face of a cheapskate.
jesion   (12.29.15)
Myrfamily and I rescued a german shepherd mix dog from Israel. The fee was 425.00 $. I pay for the food, treats, and special training to deal with her fear/aggression as she was beaten by the owner and then surrendered to a shelter where she remained for 1 year. Going forward,i will be taking her to the vet of my previous dog which will cost about 200$ per year if all is OK. I have never even thought of trying to write off dog expenses since they are not deductible.Besides, the dog gives me and my family lots of pleasure. Haaretz has reported that bibi or his wife or both inquired as to whether the state of israel would pay for dog expenses.Haaretz has been so wrong on many issues so caution is required. However, if it is true, it shows a weasal cheap personality. This is dangerous for Israel. A leader must have the confidence to say, this is my dog, we love her, we want to pay for her upkeep. It has to be clear. likewise, we can say .. here is hezbollah, these are their locations, we are going to send in 100,000 troops in an all out assault of its munitions and personnel. If a leader wants to get the state to pay for his dog, then he cannot think in the terms just laid out. He will do the minimum and then ask the us to arrange a quiet ceasefire. This is exactly what bibi did in 2 gaza wars and then harmed israel with his weasal apology to erdogan. If it is true, then i call on likud to set the terms for netanyahu to step down and call for new elections Israel cannot have such a snivelling taker as leader. If haaretz is wrong about this story, then of course they will see their paper soon declared bankrupt. Most jews would be and are ashamed of such a paper and its journalist writers..
9. How can a person(Yemini) be so blindingly wrong?! Only on
Allah Blah-bar   (12.29.15)
purpose, it seems. Siding justifiably well-earned frustration of "the Right" with the plainly anti-Israeli activities of the Lunatic Left is somehow connected to love/hate of democracy?! Using the word FASCISM??!!!! WTF is happening to the minds of hysterical leftists in Israel. Who do they thing, we the People are?!
10. 2 Sides of Same Coin
Christy ,   Boston, US   (12.30.15)
Far Left and Far Right are 2 sides to the same coin. Not just in Israel, everywhere. --- Both want to control others and use violence as their weapon to impose their will. --- Historically, both sides have killed tens of millions each. Both sides believe it's their 'enemies' who are at fault for needing to be killed.
11. #10:Please name the millions killed by Right? Mind you, the
Allah Blah-bar   (12.30.15)
Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei doesn't count! All the main murderers of this/past Century had the red flag as their guiding light....go somewhere else with your false propaganda. Same goes even for our tiny & young Israel: "Altalena", rings a bell?
12. @5 Siding with Bertold Brecht
Raphael ,   Netanya   (12.30.15)
Gideon Levy, Haaretz editorialist: ""The first conclusion that arose just minutes after the announcement of the exit polls was particularly discouraging: The nation must be replaced. Not another election for the country's leadership, but general elections to choose a new Israeli people". This is the leftist concept of democracy, which matches so well the palestinian narrative.
