1. Netanyahu no longer addresses
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (01.03.16)
Normal decent Israelis. He expects us to sit down and to shut up. Netanyahu now needs only to address the Haredim and the settlers. They are the ones he requires to stay in power
2. shiffer is wrong.... again!
oded ,   usa   (01.03.16)
the arabs are loyal to israel? who are ou kidding? they'd rather see all jews thrown into the sea.. cheap rehtoric by you shiffer , and your ilk is what incites people.time to retire.
3. Netanyahu is the problem, not Arabs
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Mount Laurel NJ USA   (01.03.16)
The one person who loves to travel the world bragging that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East won't have Arab Israelis in his cabinet, ignores the failing insfrastructure in Israeli Arab communities, exhorted Israeli Jews to vote because of fear he stoked that the Arabs were "coming out in droves" to vote, and allows the settlers to continually get away with the destruction of Arab homes and businessses, mosques and churches. Netanyahu's vision of democracy is a democracy for Jews and Jews only. His failure to rein in the settlers is what is driving the BDS movement and the anger of hundreds of millions of people around the world towards Israel. His desire to remain Prime Minister forever has resulted in a right wing government that has made Israel a pariah in the world and dangerously so, to a growing number of Americans.
4. So who constitute the many not among the loyal "most"?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.03.16)
Netanyahu is certainly correct that many wants the rights of Israeli citizenship but promote their identities and responsibilities as Palestinians or Muslims. What percentage of Israeli Arabs serve in the IDF or even national service? Is it even 2%? Most, rather, seem more inclined to harass those few who do serve. How many are hanging PLO and Hamas flags in Nazareth (which I've seen). And more than a few join in the protests when the Islamic Front - linked to the Muslim Brotherhood - declares "Al Aqsa is in danger". Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Bedouin refuse to recognize state authority over state land; they simply take what they think they can hold. And check out some of the campuses, like Haifa where the Arab students regularly invite Israel bashers to speak. Or the Technion, with a student population that's 20% Arab, where one still finds some still carrying their grudge against the state. Finally, let's not overlook those who've betrayed the state by collaborating with its enemies.
5. Is there one thing PM can say that
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.03.16)
will please all citizens? When he says what he thinks it is not good. When he tries to please everybody. It isn't good either. hjkl;'\ Can we give him a break?
6. Most Israeli Arabs are pro Israel is an outright LIE
Juliana   (01.03.16)
According to a survey by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research about 2 weeks ago, 67% Israeli Arabs support terror attacks against Israelis, with the same percentage backing a larger "armed uprising" with more shooting attacks. If the article starts with a blatant lie, there's no reason to continue reading the rest. Probably some more hogwash and lies.
7. Delusions
Michael ,   Raanana, israel   (01.04.16)
The irredentist arabs residing in Israel. along with their leftist irrational comrades are a fifth column that is working day and night to destroy the Jewish state of israel
8. How bad does it have to get?
Ed ,   USA   (01.03.16)
How bad does it have to get before the Israeli public wakes up from it's long nightmare of believing this is leadership?
9. renegade
john ,   toronto   (01.03.16)
A section of the Israeli army or Mossad has gone renegade because someone who is coordinating, is warning the enemy and putting the state's security Jewish lives at risk. The traitors should be weeded out.
10. Simply not true
Sidney ,   California   (01.03.16)
"The loyalty of most Israeli Arabs and their desire to live in this country are unquestionable" Just look at who they elect to the Knesset. They openly aid the enemies of Israel. No other parliament in the world would tolerate such disloyal members.
11. Loyalty?
Bertram ,   London, U.K.   (01.03.16)
The real disloyal people are the hateful, racist right-wing who appear hell-bent on destroying Israel. They cannot tolerate any expression or action of decency towards those who are not exactly like themselves. Netenyahu appears to ally himself with such people. Well, if you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas. He should be ashamed of himself.
12. Don't Israelis recognize
TC ,   AZ,USA   (01.04.16)
that with every hateful racist statement he makes he puts more Israeli lives in jeopardy? How is it possible that Israelis still fail to recognize that an occupied population will resist, forever, or until the occupation ends or their civil rights are recognized in a single state with equality for all. Does the prospect of "living by the sword" for a long time, as the PM suggested, really seem all that attractive?
13. Marrk Jefrey You are a lier
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (01.04.16)
Israel has arabs even in the Supreme Court, as diplomats, as doctors even in the army, I am not talking about Druze, the are in all places of society. Some are Loyal but many many identify themselves as Palestinians. They celebrate the Nakba not Yom Hatzmauth. Does that means something to you regarding loyalty?
14. you really mean lefts stupidity, and blindness
ralph   (01.04.16)
15. This Tool, Schiffer lives for one thing only: visceral hate
Allah Blah-bar   (01.04.16)
of our PM, Benjamin Netanyahu. The rest of "small" details concerning our future &well being means nothing to this unashamed Bibi-basher of inferior stature.
16. #11:There you go again Bertram of Londonistan! I thought
Allah Blah-bar   (01.04.16)
you may have gone on a Cruise to Gaza under the banner "Sailing with the Prophet for Baleshtina" ?! You should look into maybe organizing such event with your Righteous Comrades, you'd have plenty of Fellow Travelers joining hands on deck! On the other hand: this time you have not "got me all worked up" over this :-((
17. "The Shimon Schiffer Psyndrome "
WhatsHisObssession?! ,   Jerusalem   (01.04.16)
Is it one of the "Mysteries of Life" or easily explained ?!
18. To No. 16.
Bertram ,   London, UK.   (01.04.16)
Yes, indeed, there I go again, peddling my Islamist / Palestinian / leftist / righteous / fellow-travelling / crypto-anarchist / vegetarian (probably) / animal rights / self-hating Jewish views - and anything else which might ensure that I have a secure place in hell. And - yes - I am glad to report that London is entirely under the rule of Islamism, Halal and Sharia law (but I've been given special dispensation to post this comment on Ynet).
19. #8 Ed: good summary of the situation
Rafi ,   US   (01.04.16)
20. There are jews and others.
USA   (01.04.16)
The holy books tell the difference.
21. To nr 12 - Don't you recognize the native owners of Israel?
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.04.16)
First of all, we Israelis aren't making "racist" remarks. We make truthful remarks. Second, where are your condemnations of terrors, shootings and killings if you are such a tolerant and enlightened person? Third, if you bothered to study history and international law, you would know that Israel and the Jews are the historical and native population of Israel (and not the Arabs), and the historical and legal owners of the land of Israel. Third: "Occupation" is a legal term and refers to a context in which a state conquers another state. No "Palestinian" state has ever existed in recorded human history and thusly there cannot be any "occupation" either. Jews are the natives of Israel - not the Arabs. Jews have lived for 4000 years in Israel and international law recognizes Israel's legal right (the San Remo treaty and the Anglo-American treaty) to it's land. Fourth: despite that the land belongs to us, we have offered the land 8-9 times, and 8-9 times have the Arabs declined land for peace. Why? Maybe because they aren't actually interested in the land? Fifth: the conflict is existential and not territorial. The Arabs Control 99.8% of the Middle East and we Jews/Israelis merely control 0.2% of the Middle East. The Arabs already control 80% of our homeland - meaning Trans-Jordan, and now they're claiming the remaining 20%. As an American, how would you feel, if a foreign hostile power claims and controls 80% of the USA's territory, and then claims the additional 20%, and on top of that the USA is being pressured by the "World Community" to relinquish its land? The Arabs attack the Jews and not vice versa. WHERE ARE YOUR CONDEMNATIONS OF ARAB TERROR ATTACKS ON JEWS AND ISRAELIS? In most cases where Arabs ar ebeing killed, Jews or Israelis have simply DEFENDED themselves against Arab attacks. Arabs attack Jews and Israelis out of racism and hatred and religious fanaticism - not poverty, desperation or -"occupation". Sixth: speaking of racism and land theft: how about you Americans getting of Native American land and returning it to the Native Americans? How about admitting the horrendous crimes against American Blacks during the 1800s and the 1900s and the oppression of Americans of Japanese ancestry during WW2 (you placed them in concentration camps) and the massacres on Native Americans, and your crimes in Vietnam, and CIA's toppling of democratic governments in Africa and Latin America? And how about stop spying on Israel and how about stop meddling with every nation's internal affairs? Either you are seriously misinformed and ignorant, or you are a cynical deceitful insincere hateful and racist Jew hater. There are no other alternatives.
22. #3 Say, Kock, guess who was recently Speaker of the Knesset
A ,   Belgium   (01.04.16)
( and used that privilege to have a Jewish MK removed) and now sits on the Economics Commitee, where he helped himself to a 4% pay increase? Why none other than Israel's number traitor, Ahmed Tibi himself. Pretty democratic to me it seems, although ridiculous in its essence. Go do some homework before posting your pro-arab rubbish.
23. 13 Ari
C   (01.04.16)
he is a pathological liar. more accurately, he is a propagandist. does he believe his own lies? probably.
24. Hey Shiffer.
Brad ,   USA   (01.04.16)
How do you KNOW that most "Israeli Arabs" are loyal to Israel? In Islam, Muslims are allowed to lie for the advancement of Islam, so how do you know these Arabs are not lying? The obvious fact is that you KNOW no such thing. All you've done here is to prove that people tend to believe what they want to be true. That means you've only expressed your personal opinion and nothing more.
25. Most Israeli Arabs freely tell pollsters they aren't loyal
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.04.16)
This author is severely delusional. Israel Arabs have told pollsters for decades, that most of them are not loyal to Israel. Which is the most polite way of putting it. Yet the author wants us to accept the opposite as if it was fact!! The foolish author wants us to blame Bibi for overwhelming Israeli Arab hostility to Israel! Most Israelis are far too smart to be fooled by this rubbish.
26. Security has to be crazy Paranoid
Zola   (01.05.16)
Although Israel is security conscious in view of Jewish history and the region greater efforts both defensive -armed guards and preemptive seem obvious . For the decade ahead dual use Nuclear shelters are essential .
27. #18: You are completely right in your "self portrai" but
Allah Blah-bar   (01.05.16)
wrong on one account. I don't think that you shall go to Hell (if such invention exists), nor should you be condemned to eternal bathing in boiling falafel-oil! Your misguided path in life is just a byproduct of too much intelligence combined with improper upbringing & company you've kept as a young man.... The Socialist Siren's call once heard, is (so I'm told) impossible to get out of one's head. Not your fault dear. You can with ease continue to participate in your fellow Baleshtinian marches against apartheid in Israel, polish old Lenin memorabilia & so on. No Hell for you, I'm afraid.
28. Arabs vote who`?
Jannik   (01.05.16)
If Arabs so loyal why did they vote mostly for Arab PArtys who want to clean Israel from Jews?
29. #27
Bertram ,   London, UK.   (01.05.16)
Baleshtinian?? the vodka's making you slur your words. I should watch that, my friend. And how did Lenin get in here? Perhaps you mean Lennon, but apart from a couple of albums I don't have any memorabilia. I should get your confused state checked out as soon as possible.
30. #21 Alexander
Bertram ,   London, UK.   (01.05.16)
You argue in an erudite and commanding manner. I admire that, but for one small item. Your opening comments are paraded as incontrovertible 'facts' whereas they are interpretations. Here's the difference: it's a fact that the West Bank is under the control of Israel and it's a fact that the non-Jewish inhabitants of the West Bank do not have Israeli citizenship rights. Whether you call that 'occupation' or not is a matter of interpretation. Let's take another example of yours - 'Jews are the natives of Israel - not the Arabs'. Well, in factual terms, some Jews are natives of Israel - they were born there. Others are not - they were born elsewhere. But, of course, you don't mean that. What you mean is that the Jewish people as a whole have an unarguable historic 4000 year connection with the geographic entity now called Israel (plus the West Bank /Judea and Samaria?). An interpretation of various ancient documentary sources open to other interpretations. Such is the work of historians in many fields who often prone to disagree with each other.
