Perhaps they do it because those that are caught pay such a small penalty for their crimes. If the courts would put the offenders away for multiple years, we would see less political crimes committed.

Being in 'power' still does not make you above the law!! These people get into politics and law enforcement for the wrong reasons. Perhaps he is not well endowed below or suffers from severe insecurity and his post gave him some artificial confidence. Hope they lock him up for a long time for this obstruction of justice.
