10 Talkbacks for this article
1. Why Favor One Group?
Christy ,   Boston, US   (01.09.16)
Unless this is extended to all Israelis it will cause resentment. --- There's already a growing resentment that one group gets favored over others and the others must keep footing the bill. --- Government leaders should be looking for ways to make all groups equal because it will be better for society.
2. start volunteering for IDF, then we'll see about discounts
Rafi ,   US   (01.10.16)
3. Israel is completely fucked.
Dan   (01.10.16)
I say this as a sabra. Israel is no longer worth living in and its existence benefits no one except haredim, fascists and Bibi.
4. Government benefits
Yaakov ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (01.10.16)
It is difficult for some of us to fully understand why the non-working, non-producing group consisting of over 100,000 persons receive a salary, free insurance, reduced rates, and have the authority and power to tell the rest of the country they can or cannot work on specific days. Yes it is a bit difficult.
5. they will accept this?
Jake ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.16)
"increase from about NIS 860 a month to about NIS 885 a month" For 25 shekels per student a month? Are you serious? Also adding 25 shekels a month for insurance? Are you serious? I thought they were getting BIG money, this is gornisht! The article is inflammatory if you ask me.
6. Unequal benefits
Philip ,   Israel   (01.10.16)
Our Knesset has become a "house of ill fame"
7. Go get a job
Naomi   (01.10.16)
How dare they demand more, when all they do is milk the system dry without contributing a shekel while refusing to serve in the IDF. The government should stop their benefits entirely. Why should the hard working tax payers of this country fund this so called life style of theirs?
8. @ #5 - Jake
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (01.10.16)
I assume you can do simple math... try multiplying that NIS 860 per month by 100,000, then by 12 to find out what the annual sum is. Then add the government support to Yeshivot and Haredi elementary and secondary schools. You'll find that it's quite a considerable sum, made against a comparatively small contribution by the same sector of the country's population. Your talkback is inane, if you ask me.
9. dossim ack shelee
ran   (01.10.16)
we the haredim/dati pray for you secular/ some of us wiork/serve in idf but we are breeding faster than the arabs ,that fact alone will save israel. also the arabs/ goyim should get a discount for not driving on shabbat.
10. Great advice from #2
Howard K. ,   Israel   (01.10.16)
brought to you by Rafi sitting pretty in the United States ... Oh, and #7 Naomi, would you deny 1.5 million minority members benefits, since they, as you put it, "milk the system dry without contributing a shekel while refusing to serve in the IDF?"
