1. errors in working out income
EZEKIAL HAIM ,   LONDON UK   (01.31.16)
Wages and income calculations in the OECD report about Israel do not take into consideration the cash economy or the unrecorded economy. This was recently corrected for in the EU countries by adding an estimated amount to the GDP making EU countries GDP artificially higher than countries that do not make this correction. The result is that Israel's GDP seems lower than it actually is.Similarly the 'poorer sections of Israeli society' may have a higher percentage of their income as cash or unrecorded making them look poorer than they actually are.

the welfare of the Israeli People! Encourage employment, IDF Service, and give more benefits to those in areas where work is not plentiful. How about sharing the gas profits?????

G_d Bless Israel.
5. Other facts to be considered.
Andi ,   Israel   (01.31.16)
1) Arabs don't join the army for 3.5 years therefore start working or studying 3.5 years earlier than Jews. 2)Housing expenses are much lower in Arab towns, compensating for staisically lower incomes. 3)Arab women and ultraorthodox CHOOSE not to work due to different value systems compared to other OECD countries so a direct comparison is not valid.
6. Jews in Israel are free
C   (01.31.16)
israel is the only country in the entire world where they are free. that accounts for their happiness.
7. Israel is a great country
marko ,   Tel Aviv   (02.01.16)
Israel is a great country until we get to the crap salaries the low standard of living the black coated parasites that live of my taxes and last but not least Bibi.
8. Happy? Are you kidding?
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.03.16)
That's why so many Israelis live abroad. Not enough happiness in criminal, poor Israel.
9. #8 Rich is an expert on Israel
Benji ,   US   (02.13.16)
Probably worked one summer in the 70s on a kibbutz and now he's an expert. Nothing positive ever comes out of Rich. Doubt he's happy in Canada.
10. To Beary White in Norway
Israeli   (02.18.16)
You so love everything about Israel therefore I ask why do you remain in Norway ?
11. Material things matter and today even our little Israel
israeli   (02.18.16)
can supply us with them - at a higher price than those of the West. If shar lestader, konim ba tashlumeem !
12. Corruption is in every county
Tova   (02.22.18)
No country lives without corruption. Politics does that. Canada is a very corrupt country. It should be lower than Israel. People see Canada from outside as being a diverse and tolerate country.

That is not true, Canada is extremely corrupt and hides very well as the focus in more towards the united states. Liberals are most corrupt of all parties. Canadians pretend to nice and polite, but when you get to know them they are a mean spiritied people who pick and choose who to like and who to hate.

As for Israel being a happy country its true. Despite the terrorism and hatred towards Israel it is the only country that leads the world to keep on living and this is the envy of other nations. As for poverty amongst the orthodox its unfortunate this group refuses and deny themselves the blessings of GOD which is to prosper.
