Eilat is an ugly city, malls right on the beach, loud music blaring, a bizarre hotel ghetto separated from the town and old slum dwellings in the older parts of the city. It has the worst town plan spoiling a beautiful geography. Foreign tourist will not come to this tacky city and a casino will be one more bit of junk. It needs a real economic plan and a real town plan. This is no answer.
2. Strange that Bennett and the God Brigade
Sagi   (02.21.16)
do not want a casino city in Eilat. Casinos inevitably attract lowlifes, thieves, thugs and prostitutes, By setting up casinos they would simply be propagating their own ideology and advancing their own kind of people.

4. A vulgar and stupid article,
Natan ,   Jerusalem   (02.22.16)
used as a fig-leaf for the author's left-wing mantras. However, amazingly the author is correct when he states: "Far more alarming are the Toto and Lotto booths".

What Eilat needs from the government is some investment money and revolutionary new town planning ideas. Get rid of the hotel gehtto and then hotels will not all be in the same place allowing for cheaper land rentals and hopefully cheaper prices, get rid of the nighttime flea market on the beachfront, its horrible and doesn't do anything to attract tourists. The slums should go through an urban renewal pretty much start from scratch but they need to do it if they want to compete with Sharm EL Sheik which is a much nicer resort town a casino though if done properly & organised crime can be kept out of it can be a good thing if there is a Las Vegas style family atmosphere and not James Bond suit & tie casino,
