but thus far, the Israeli Citizen has little benefit from these humongous gas fields. As in all Capitalist Societies, (not criticizing Capitalism), the profits will be shared by few. In order for the general public to benefit; the fields and associated support projects would have to be nationalized. I doubt if that will happen in our lifetimes!

The problem with nationalisation means the government is 100% responsible for the running of the gas fields. Right now the private sector spend millions exploring to find gas fields, drilling, transporting etc nationalisation and in exchange they get a big chunk of the profits and pay the government royalties for investing nothing. There may be more gas fields out there but if its nationalised the companies will not invest the money so long term we benefit from private sector involvement even if it means we give them the lions share of the profit also government never does this sort of thing well, if the company wants to spend money drilling for more sites or oil it will be the Knesset that decides because its taxpayer money they want to spend.
