Israel is ruled by 120 members of the knesset. There is no other chamber and even the prime ministers party only managed to muster 25% of the votes in the last election. This gives a tiny number of people a lot of power with no other check or balance apart from that of the courts. The time has come to create a second chamber which will be democratic in nature and test thoroughly legislation before it becomes law. Such checks and balances would put a brake on some of the decisions which are approved by an unrepresentative government and ensure greater quality of legislation and less emotion
