Please could the UN define a city. If the Israeli population of the Golan is estimated at around 30000, we are a long way from having anything resembling a city in this area of land.

When the 'deep concerned' honourable members of the UNSC would express their deep concern on the real human tragedies/atrocities going on in the world.....and act on them, the world would be a much better/safer place! It is embarrassing for those who think they can solve the middle east problem by throwing Israel under the bus. The Golan will always be in Israel regardless of which politician is for or against it. There is no one to negotiate with on the Syrian side and there will never be one. In 1967 IDF held back from reaching Damascus instead they settled for the tundra of the North. It is a vital, growing part of Israel. Syria had it, misused it - and now it's lost. Meanwhile Israel's using it productively, and it's not being traded for cold or hot peace. Perhaps Israel needs to take more empty land so that the UN forgets about the Golan, and really has something to cry about.

WWII was started by Germany and Japan. They lost and the UN was formed to outlaw what they had done acquire land and territory by force of arms.. The Geneva Conventions reinforce the ban on such expansion.

Historically....as in before the breakup of the Ottoman Empire...The Golan was part of that empire. Syria was part of that empire and Israel and Jordan were one large unified part of that empire. Historically if a nation lost territory in a war where they were the aggressors, they lost the land for good. Historically and rightfully Syria ( country arbitrarily created without regard to natural borders or tribes within those borders by Sykes-Picot) has no claim on the Golan.
