1. The wrong solution
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (05.05.16)
This is costing Israel a fortune.Hamas isn't only conducting terrorist warfare,it's conducting economic warfare.Hamas wins even when the tunnels are discovered. This could go on for ever unless Israel delivers a final knockout blow on the terrorists. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
2. Hamas dig a hole and dig your own grave.
BUILD BABY BUILD !!!   (05.05.16)
G-d bless Israel !
3. Good to see, that besides making Nazi-comparisons the IDF
(05.05.16)
finds energy to sometime uncover enemy tunnels. Now, let's hope our luck doesn't run out, cause that's all we can count on with the present "leadership"!
4. why is it that idf only returns fire
ed   (05.05.16)
theridf should lay down a torrent of fire that would dissuade hamas and their allies to hide for cover while engineering corps searches and destroys. all the idf seems to do is react defensively. where the hell is a solid battlefield general that could grind hamas into dust? idf has graduated moralists who are trained as commandos engaging in small operatations. you have gantz who did not do much in the hezbollah war, and was reluctant in the gaza war with lousy results. now you have golan who is suffering through the sociology of the jewish nation and its comparison to to others. and you have yaalon who had problems with the idf in the 1973 war and its conduct and vowed to change things- and how did he change things? he says calm for calm instead of cleaning arabs out. the population waits and takes it on the chin and the idf seeks ceasefires/ and this idulgence in moral army and purity of arms, almost bragging about it and causing the world to hold israel to a higher standard-you people are nuts. you are not holier than anyone else or chosen not with types like olmert ramon and that piece of garbage levy. the idf should carry out tasks in a bottom line away and stop preaching morality.
5. yaalon, golan and hezbollah
jay   (05.05.16)
i have no doubt that israel will lose to hezbollah in the next encounter with the idf led by yaalon and golan. war is not a class in a ehtical philosopy which yealon and golan are into. you want an attack in the idf? Bogie-your gaza campaign was anemic-you raced to a ceasef ceasefire before the tunnels were destroyed. do israeli a favour-hand in your reignation, the both of you.
6. It should be easy enough to find the tunnel exit
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (05.05.16)
The tunnel goes two ways: back towards Gaza and towards Israel. Drop a small robot, or a few armed soldiers (in case Hamas tries to defend their tunnel) into the shaft, and simply follow it towards its endpoint. It's certainly possible the tunnel is incomplete and they haven't constructed the exit yet. If the IDF's access hole is too small for man or machine, they can start by pumping colored smoke into the tunnel and watch where it comes out. Then work backwards towards Gaza to find the tunnel origin. It's likely the tunnel is part of a network, like interconnected subway lines. The IDF's robot scouts should help map them out for destruction, but soldiers will have to go down there to get it done.
