Any victim of abuse will tell you hardly a day goes by that one doesn't relive somehow their trauma. They may also tell you that their tormentor's punishment doesn't make theirs any easier either. And if it did it is not as if they wanted him to suffer an assault such as what he committed. I'd be impressed if the perpetrator thinks anywhere near about the suffering he inflicted compared to what he does mourning having gotten caught out and forced to be isolated from normal society for a spell.
