1. Obviously modern Turks like their autocracy.

It can be construed that having popularly rejected this coup, the Turkish people have indicated a preference for the autocratic Erdogan. That is unfortunate and would confirm that Turkey's transition to a secular, Western-leaning nation under Ataturk is now in reverse as the country seems to have fully embraced the soft-autocracy and Islamo-centrism of Erdogan. Obama's support is no surprise. Obama's preference across the region has been for the sunni-oriented Islamic Brotherhood types and O's support for Erdogan, Hamas and his tepid response to ISIS are indicative of this. Erdogan has spent years removing secularists from his military and this coup's failure is indicative of just how impotent the military has become as guarantor of Turkey's once-heralded secularism. Western liberals who dominate the media and "intelligentsia" would do well to remember this the next time a story breaks highlighting Turkey's tacit support for ISIS. Erdogan is not your friend and the failure of this coup, ironically, does not bode well for liberal democracy.
2. It stinks

What a strange coincidence that Erdogan just happened to be well out of the way when this 'coup' started. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
