The operation for the Manbij region began over two months ago and was led by thousands of Arab rebels with a small unit of hundreds Kurdish fighters joining them.
The Kurds liberated the countryside of about 100 villages and the Arab rebels were in charge of attacking the town itself. Arabs had a hard time doing so for two months and suffered .heavy losses.
All assessments by military experts at the beginning of August were that it will take several more weeks to dislodge ISIS that was dug in the center of town holding about 2000 civilian hostages.
The Kurds finally had enough with their .impotent Arab "allies" and a week ago they decided to bring to the battle their elite snipers unit. Two days later the town too was liberated by the brave and competent Kurds.
