I imagine that according to the author, the best outcome would be for the US Military/Industrial Complex and US Treasury to give everything they have so that Israeli purposes can be served, am I correct?
2. Shame on USA!!! Betrayal of Kurds is apalling!
Lou ,   Bucharest   (08.31.16)
as for the Russians their demography should worry them much more than the Middle East and Assad.

You are totally incorrect
After using the Kurds as cannon fodder the Americans betrayed their only allies in the area. I saw how Kerry gave an ultimatum to the Kurds in Ankara in front of the cameras just to please the double faced hypocrite Turks who until a year ago were the supports of ISIS.
apparently your understanding about the conflict in Syria is zero
4. Obama & Kerry: too naive regarding Mid East to deliberately
Rafi ,   US   (08.31.16)
... deceive.

They just get taken to the cleaners every time by Turkey, Iran & Russia.
5. US, Turkey, Isarel

I don't the writer was suggesting any such thing. Given the the US Foreign Policy is being run by 2 fools Obama and Kerry and the writer is just pointing out what fools they are. I just hope Israel realizes that sometimes American interests, especially with these 2 idiots, are very bad for Israeli interests.
6. Erdogan isn't fighting ISIS
Avi L.   (09.01.16)
Erdogan isn't fighting ISIS, he's actually working with ISIS.

Turkey didn't conquer any border city.

ISIS islamists changed uniform and, in another disguise, "liberated" Jarabulus and pushed on kurdish positions supported by Turkey's army.

Lil' sultan NEVER fought ISIS and even less the "former" al Qaeda in the Levant.

Putin is the big winner and the US are the big whiners.

Erdo doesn't give a damn about US or EU, in typical oriental way he does as it pleases him.

Worst scenario would be Putin unleashing some "disclosure" on Clinton so close to the election day that there won't be any possibility to debunk it and Trump win by default. With Putin playing that dumbwit pulling string as with a puppet.

Then the brown matter would hit the fan.
7. Don't worry about the Kurds
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (09.01.16)
The Kurds went to bed with Israel a long time ago. They now wake up with flees.
Surprise!
8. indifferent to those sitting & squalling on the sidelines
Cameron   (09.01.16)
The only interests we are obliged to serve in Syria are our own as we determine them.
9. Subdividing Syria into ethnic & religious enclaves, Fishman?
Cameron   (09.01.16)
Israeli fantasizing

Completely unrealistic.

This is a true death-grip for the entire package.

The majority Sunnis will settle for nothing less, and the Shiite regime will not stand to have it's power & control crippled in some sort of broken up Syria scenario.

The game is all or nothing.
10. Jewish voting for Hillary.
George ,   Manchester NH   (09.01.16)
It is very sad that the Jewish community in the US does not see the danger of them voting D in the next elections. Her major donor is George Soros that do his best to demonize the state of Israel and Huma her close helper/friend, is connected to the Muslim brotherhood, that has probably big contribution to Hillary's idea to bring 1 million Muslims to the US.

Focusing on Judea and Samaria is more important than worrying about the outcome of games that world powers are playing.

Strange article.

Why does the author think the Americans should put their own interests behind Israel's? It's arrogant beyond belief and close to propagating the stereotype that "Jews run the world." It's especially silly as Israeli leaders have given the brush off to Obama for years now. This is just part of a lot more payback to come. Deal with it.

The second silly part of this article is to think there is some ideal solution to the utter mess that is Syria. Wishful thinking on the part of arm-chair generals like the author who have no idea of reality and instead buy into the various Israelis false narratives about how the world works.

Both of the above point to the inevitable: Israel has sealed its own doom as it now is ignored by the only nation that has tolerated it for decades.

Deal with the karma your nation has earned.
13. How the Turks Deceived Americans in Syria
AndrĂ© Rossmann ,   Copenhagen, Denmark   (09.03.16)
Sir,

Thanks for your excellent article.

Yesterday, Obama declined to enforce the red line in Syria after Iran threatened to back out of the nuclear deal.

Today, Obama is selling out the Syrian Kurds to the Turks.

Tomorrow, they will have no scruples about selling out Israel.

Therefore, Israel should take any necessary steps to be able to meet that challenge.

Best regards
André Rossmann
14. do the kurds believe the USA ?
richard sherwin ,   herzliyah   (09.06.16)
there's just as much info to suggest the americans were silent partners in letting the kurds get pushed back/killed as necessary road-kill to getting turks russians and iran to agree to breaking ISIS in the area next to turkish borders. the kurds and israelis have few options anyway. we need usa more than they need us at present; ditto the kurds. like all client states we're bought off by our patrons patronizing us... and if you got any pride, well it's always a good time to choke on it. supposedly it's spiritually uplifting? humbling? humiliating?
