I salute their courage to confront the usual mob bravado that would never dare to do the same as individuals. They responded in the right way, because they know they are better off as part of the nation and will advance to better lives as a result.

This is what the "rejectionists" fear: that young men who go out into the world will see a life beyond their shtetls and will want more than the narrow and cloistered life that keeps them impoverished and ignorant. It is what cults do to retain their imprisoned members: abuse, fear, antagonism and relentless harassment.

All those who have elected to take a step forward, and to make a contribution to the society that they live in, deserve all the help and support they can get.
