1. This law is needed simply because
MadDad ,   Johannesburg RSA   (05.15.17)
there are people like Zoabi that will condemn Israel no matter what.
It is important that we show these people that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people who have a right to self-determination.
This is far more important than trying to compromise and restrain ourselves in the face of the BS the Zoabians will continue to sprout - no matter what.
At last we live in a time that Israel and its citizens can do what they want in accordance with their democratic institutions - even if the Zoabians and their outside cronies don't like it.
2. In the reality of the Middle East this law is necessary

Some facts can't be stated enough!

Especially when the arrogance of ignorant liars & Jew haters (Jew & non Jews) have united to undermine and exterminate the Jewish Democratic State of Israel = Holocaust 2.

"Palestinians" are the excuse, extermination of Israel & Jews the goal!

Despite all the nice words about "how Europe won't be Europe without it's Jews, how EU is against boycotts etc.etc.......make no mistake about the
hidden agenda and the fact that the Nazi's wouldn't have succeeded without the help of all European countries.

From 7 to 70 .....nothing has changed.
6. Nation and state
Bertram ,   London, UK.   (05.15.17)
Israel is a state for the Jewish people. No argument, as long as the rights of Jewish who live elsewhere are not prejudiced (Balfour). But let's not confuse a nation with a state. Inside Israel, members of the Jewish nation - the majority - live alongside members of other nations who are minorities. This is very similar to many other states. The author states Israel is (should be?) Jewish in the same way Croatia is Croatian. This is to mix apples with oranges. 'Croatian' implies a state not a nation, let alone a religion. Croatia is over 90% Catholic but it is not called the Catholic Republic of Croatia. There are ethno-religious minorities in Croatia - Bosnian Muslims, Orthodox Serbs, and Jews. They are, nonetheless, full citizens of the Croatian state. It is true that many of this liberal democratic state would like crude majoritarian rule and damn the minorities just like many right-wing Israelis. I see no reason why a liberal-democratic Israel cannot retain an overall Jewish character without succumbing to the intolerance of majoritarianism. A 'nationality law' is will shoot Israel in the foot.
7. "I prersume EU anti Semitism defines your existence"
tiki ,   belgium   (05.15.17)
That's the problem with many people .....'they presume while not knowing anything about the person or the subject.

As for your example of Croatia, which inhabits 90% Christians but still doesn't call itself the Christian State of Croatia shows again how little you know.

Israel & Judaism are like Siamese twins since Biblical times, incomparable to any other state or nation for Jews are the only religion & culture forever bound together to the land of Israel (as archaeological finds prove) despite what the newly founded UN/UNESCO/EU/Croatia or you from the ever shrinking Island in the North Sea say.

About my 'anger defining my existence....... believe me, I'm one of the happy few and therefore always cheerful & optimistic.... but a stubborn realist who has a problem with arrogant ignorant people lecturing other, even more ignorant people.
