1. occupation costs
Mike ,   Seattle   (05.31.17)
The essence of Jew hatred is to blame the Jews for the acts of those who want to kill them. Before 1967 there were dozens of terrorist attacks against Jews in Israel by Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza. There was no "Occupation" then. Now the argument is that the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza want to kill Jews and destroy Israel because they are "oppressed" and "humiliated" by the Occupation. What they really mean is that they are oppressed and humiliated because they can't kill Jews and destroy Israel as the wish. It is false to believe, as the left does, that if only Israel would remove all Jews from the territories captured in 1967 peace would reign. The Palestinians tell us every day they will never stop their efforts to destroy Israel no matter what lands Israel vacates. That being the case Israel should not turn over one square inch of territory to those bent on its destruction. Before peace can occur the Palestinians must change their definition of Oppression and Humiliation. Jews should not have to die just so the Palestinians can feel better about themselves.
2. Occupation expensive and damaging to occupier's psyche
Jacob Edelman ,   NYC   (05.31.17)
As history has proved time and again that any occupation of foreign territory , nation group of people has more serious costs than the financial outlay. The Romans in the past, Charlemagne in 8th century and all other occupiers discovered it in due time and never recovered from its ill effects. It rots your moral basis, it distorts your perspective of life and vision, and creates the image of an oppressive regime that ends up unifying all those who oppose such authorities and most of all fans hatred that some people call anti-semitism. Well, welcome to the world of oppressor and oppressed.
3. being Jewish has always been priceless

we have paid for millennia with our lives and treasure.
at least now we have our ancestral homeland and our
army to defend ourselves.
4. Occupation brought relative peace
MadDad ,   Johannesburg   (05.31.17)
There sure was no piece before the 6 day war and since then
Israel has had relative peace on its terms
The cost the author talks of should be compared
to the cost if Hamas had free reign over The WB like it
does in Gaza
