2. A typical PC overreaction
Bearing in mind the normal and justifiable anathema to Nazi ideology, I believe the man when he says he was using it in a mocking way. It's possible the left won't appreciate a reminder of the fact that most dictatorships, including Hitler, were to the left, but it's getting ridiculous when the context of the thing really indicates more satire than an intention to insult an individual or a group. There is error of judgement and there is serious misconduct and I support the former in this case. He shouldn't lose his job for one error, and for which he expresses genuine regret. It's different when, say, the Nazi salute is used as a deliberate act of contempt, as was the case with that French "comedian".
PC is, in fact, a leftist disease that is killing human expression.
