This is ridiculous!! They each receive tens of thousands of shekels when they do Aliyah and in benefits for a few years thereafter. A lot of them can get studies paid for them. Minimum wage is 5000 NIS and not 3000. That is enough to pay rent and food. They have received free living and in that time coukd have saved up. I am sympathetic to their desire to provide for nephews and other relatives back in Ethiopia, but the Israeli taxpayer cannot afford to be funding the relatives of every Ethiopian who chose to do Aliyah. They are totally taking advantage of Israel's kindness towards them. I myself did Aliyah. I came to Israel with nothing, and no living solution nor work nor any qualifications. It wasn't one bit easy. But I fought to build a life for myself here. It is not easy but it's necessary and it's life. And I didn't get free living for any period of time. And now I am studying and working hard to earn enough to pay rent etc at the same time. It's not easy but it's doable if you realise you need to work to get the living conditions you want. This whole situation is ridiculous. And yes, they should be very thankful for everything Israel gives them. There are loads of special grants for Ethiopians, they get much more help than other Olim and way more help than Israelis. Yet they get free housing so that they can send their relatives abroad the money they earn instead of paying rent. Israel doesn't need to fund their relatives! Get a life!
