Benny Begin is an honorable sort of guy. He represents the Israel of his father: ideals, a sense of duty and responsibility and, most of all, moral integrity. He should have known years ago already that all these had become worthless in the new age of "me first."

He will surely have known it when he gave his place in order to put another Netanyahu crony into his rightful position. But still he came back. Perhaps he sees it as a mission to save the party of its founder, his father.

But... what he never anticipated in his father's party was that it would be filled with drek, and that the only way he could redeem his father's name would have been to walk away from it. The only way he could have saved his own self-respect would have been to disown the party who's current leader has turned into a quagmire of corruption, greed and self-interest. Surely he should have seen that for some time this bunch of despicably behaved boors has no respect for him, and as such, no respect for the party they hijacked.

His weakness is his downfall. He is a decent man, ibut by no means the steely politician that his father was. He has, through all this, remained silent instead of turning around to David Bitan and his ilk and calling them what they are: - uncouth, low class oiks who defile the party and the country, then walk up to Binyamin Netanyahu and throw his party membership in his face.

Cry, the Beloved Country.
