Minister Hotovely is correct that American Jews generally lead convenient lives -not having to do national service and not living in a region where there is a constant threat of war. Young people of Jewish descent in U.S. have no memory of the difficulties for Jews prior to Civil Rights Legislation and before the founding of the state of Israel - which is still in constant threat. I do. I am 86. The Minister speaks for Israeli's and not for Diaspora Jews. I do not understand what any American Jews find so offensive about her comments.
