of civilized behavior on part of Arab/Muslim world toward Israel/Jews.
Will not happen, cannot happen, unless some Islamic scholar rewrites the Koran.
Tell me what are the chances of that happening?
Give up Golan and we may well seek greener pastures in....let's say, Polish woods.
5. shiffer is an oslo dunce

golan belongs to israel through history and blood-end of story. it has nothing to do with russia and us dividing up syria with an arrangement on golan. without golan, israel cannot exist period.

only weaklings like shiffer and bibi and maybe general levin keep asking for international recognition of golan as israeli. golan belongs to israel who will enforce it with its power against anyone including russia.

shiffer causes israel to lose deterrence by begging others to recognize golan. bibi also does this. yet israelis are so sick of bibi, they cannot think clearly. why would i vote to put a shiffer, a beilin in the form of lapid as pm. no wonder jews have had so much misfortune.. their best leader is bennett by far.even saar is better than bibi.

wake up israel before you agree to even more concessions which will guarantee bring more terror.
6. so what shiffer
arden   (12.02.17)
israel is not negotiating golan period especially once bibi is gone. only shiffer herzog gabbay and livni would sacrifice golan. recall olmert almost gave it away. and bibi was not far behind him-a smart commando he is not at all.

so israel will fight from proper lines-end of story. to hell with russia. israel will defend its interests. shiffer can go to hell with his pessimism.

imagine if isis or hezbollah were sitting on top of the golan looking down. you israelis are incredible idiots.

in the middle east, you have to fight -get used to it.

media types should have to do extra army duty to wake them the hell up.

generals make lousy decisions when they go into politics and gen levin is another one. israel need not ask for any recognition. just own it and shut up about it.

Israel is THE superpower in the region
Just who exactly is going to make Israel withdraw to the 67 borders in the Golan?

8. Delusions
Avi L.   (12.02.17)
Finally some journalist calling a spade a spade declaring that some of the "former security experts and officials in the intelligence community" are delusional or else.

In the last times a few of them exposed their delusions in search of a second career as "experts" misleading the public opinion into believing "solutions" they were probably trying to sell to decision makers.

Where the author is wrong is comparing Syria with Afghanistan, for a lot of reasons, from the US not giving manpad, from geography, to having others getting killed on the ground, to having (after refugees left) half population with the government etc etc, not last the absence of massive US help and of a haven like Pakistan.

By the way there is no more an arab sunni majority, nearly half of them left.

In Syria it is already game over and Putin avoided the mistakes made in Afghanistan with a few killed, no big deal after Chechnya.

Regarding the US, it isn't so much the Vietnam that is in mind but rather Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US can still be the most powerful on earth but, not only it has to divide its power on a couple of theaters, its "leader" is the weak link in the chain, the single point of failure that, according to rumors, is under foreign influence.

About the Golan itself it's good not feeling alone

9. EXCELLENT COLUMN & ANALYSIS.
Rafi ,   US   (12.02.17)
Israel needs to speak very softly and carry a very big stick.

As Shiffer points out, this is certainly not a time for "diplomatic initiatives" regarding the Golan.
10. Golan belongs to Israel
C   (12.03.17)
israel does not need any international recognition of her national security
decisions.
only fools would beg the so called international community to support
israel, when that same international community will not even acknowledge
the the city of david, seat of zion, has been jewish for three thousand years.
all that israel needs is a strong jewish army and her intelligence agencies.
