I don't understand what was so wrong about the minister's comments. Compared to Israelis we lead convenient lives - no threats of rockets from Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Gaza. I am basically a non-observant Jew. However, I lived in Israel for a year during Intifada # 1. I appreciated closures on Shabbat. Once I got a car I went to the beach on Shabbat. However, I would not drive through an Orthodox neighborhood on Shabbat.
