The writer is an idiot. We all know Hamas' intentions. The IDF needs to say as simply as possible STOP the rockets. Then the politicians approach the UN and tell them to tell the militants to STOP. If that does not work the IDF needs to pull back the residents close to the border with Gaza and then match one for one each rocket into Israel.
If it leads to all out chaos then the UN is to blame too.

Jerusalem is Israel's capital de-facto, therefore, there was never a reason for Trump to declare Jerusalem as its capital, unless it serves a narrow set of interests.
