The author is as much a "Palestinian" as the Tamimi family. A "Palestinian" is a person living within the area of the geographical area called "Palestine". The difference in sentences may be due to the fact that the Israel falls under Israeli law while a non-citizen of Israel in an area not part of Israel does not.

A correction to Nahum Barnea's article is called for. Ahed Tamimi was born on 30 March 2001. She is therefore 16 years old. She is a child, but not the only Palestinian child, languishing in Israeli jails. In a democracy worthy of its name children are not thrown in prison.
There is one law for Jewish children and one for Palestinian children. Israel is holding dozens of Palestinian children in prison, something that would never happen to Jewish children.
Just one of the many examples that show that Israel is an apartheid state.

At the end of Nov. 2017, 313 Palestinian minors were held in Israeli prisons as security detainees and prisoners, including 2 administrative detainees. Another 9 Palestinian minors were held in Israel Prison Service facilities for being in Israel illegally. The IPS considers these minors – both detainees and prisoners – criminal offenders.
In addition, a small number of minors are held in IDF-run facilities for short periods of time.
These are figures provided by the Israeli military and the Israeli Prison Service to B'selem, the Israeli human rights organisation.
For a country that calls itself the "only democracy in the Middle East" that is a badge of shame.

The legal system must enforce the law in the territories, as set by the lawmakers. And the Israeli legal system MUST MAKE SURE nothing criminally wrong happens to hurt Ms. Ahed Tamimi
