2. what about the Iranian caraot they will always outbid us
jos rech ,   LA   (01.23.18)
they are destined to be the handmaiden of terror
3. It's always Israel's fault
Ralph K ,   HOUSTON   (01.23.18)
Of course the Israeli strategy is always wrong. Just a simple laundry list of seven items to complete and Hamas will beat their Klatch rifles into plowing shares and peace will suddenly bloom in the M.E.

Israel will always be at fault for the condition of the Strip and is responsible for everything. Respond to every rocket strike ? Hysterical. I suppose the government has no responsibility to protect the people in Sderot. Israel is suppose to resume playing a tit-for-tat game, with rockets and respond by bombing empty buildings. Any target worth 10 Shekels is inside of a mosque, hospital, school, and or UN facility.

The only solution is to trim the grass and return to re-trim the grass.
4. Very forward thinking opinion
DOV ,   USA   (01.23.18)
Excellent strategy. It sounds like a good way to relinquish authority with little compromise.
5. A retired Israeli military man
Arnie ,   Montreal   (01.23.18)
He must know what he is talking about.
6. With all due respect Maj. General - Who will you work with?
Ben ,   Harrisburg   (01.23.18)
The ideas are sound, the plan I believe is good, but there are two major flaws. Who in the strip will you work with? Hamas? There are no real diplomatic channels, and for Hamas to even allow this kind of agreement would mean a level of recognition of Israel they are not likely to accept. The second problem is an assumption that the current government of the Gaza strip cares about its residence and is looking to improve their lives. The status quo is not perfect for Hamas, but it isn't bad either. Their leadership isn't going hungry, They have electricity all day and night, They eat well, sleep comfortably, an enjoy life. The misery and humanitarian condition of the rest of strips residence is what gives them control and power. Why on earth would they surrender that? Normalizing the lives of Gaza residence significantly reduces the need for all the war and hate. It isn't that they are not rational, or logical, they simply don't really give two bits for the people they control. The value of their power far exceeds any humanitarian concerns they may have. If they did, care about "their people" the issue would have been resolved 70 years ago.
7. No to #4, #5, #6
solomon ,   bklyn   (01.23.18)
#4: Hamas will use the money for weapons, as now, no matter what they say.
#5: Hamas will use the seaport to bring in more sophisticated weapons and more of them.
#6: The additional electricity will enable the weapons program of Hamas to speed up.
8. So much "deep thinking" after the opening line:"Gaza is an
(01.23.18)
enemy" (I wonder how the "sate" got in there...)?
You know, dear genera, what you do to an enemy?
Obviously not so much.
Woe us all with military cretins like that.....
9. Gaza remains occupied territory under an inhuman siege
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor   (01.23.18)
It is not an independent "enemy state". Under international law it remains territor occupied by the State of Israel. For Israel Gaza is a laboratory for inflicting cruelty and inhuman suffering, brought on by the blockade that has been imposed 11 years ago and is getting worse. It makes Israel into a terror state bereft of decent human values, when it comes to the treatment of non-Jews.
Eiland, you should be ashamed. You and most of your colleagues are nothing but common war criminals. The world sooner or later will hold you to account.
10. Int Law means anything voted by the mostly 3rd World @UN
Alan   (01.23.18)
together with the over 50 Muslim States at UN As Late Abba Ebban ZL said-The UN can table and win a resolution that the Earth is Flat...today the ICC at Hague can find anyone guilty of heresy if he/she contradicts this legal position

Alan   (01.23.18)
us and the murderers out there in the Middle East who would wipe out every Jew if they could. They are ALL our heroes and protectors!
12. There is NO reason to recognize hostile Gaza !
observerms ,   Tivon, Israel   (01.23.18)
(1) WHY recognize hostile Gaza ?
There is NO good reason why Israel should concede that Gaza is or ever was new country or a new State.
:
(2) Erdogan's ambition to reinsert Turkey into the Middle East should be foiled.
Inviting Turkey to intervene by using a TURKISH ship to supply electricity

Legalities imposed by UNWRA or International dictates are worthless DICTATES.

observerms
is a NON starter.
13. Resolving the Gaza problem ought to be in collaboration with
NadavKatz   (01.23.18)
Egypt and the international community, not with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

And, with Egypt, we ought to see to what extent Gazans may settle in northern Sinai where they may develop, with the assistance of the State of Israel, Egypt, the rest of the Sunni Arab world and the international community, both agriculture and tourism, as well as other industries.

Israel can't do so by itself, it need to obtain Egypt's assistance and to ensure that the beneficiaries are not only the Gazans but Egypt as well.
14. Israeli Control = Occupation
Mark Sherry   (01.23.18)
Israel controls the sea lanes and territorial waters of Gaza, determining where, inside those waters, fishing can be done, violators shot or sunk and boats seized. Israel controls 40% of the arable land in Gaza and prohibits its use on pain of death. Israel's COGAT determines where housing and schools can be built.

Gaza is occupied. If it is a country, it is an occupied country, occupied by Israel.

It would be interesting for Israel to declare it a state, occupied or not.
15. What carrot? Hamas calls for global genocide of Jews
(01.23.18)
No wonder 6,000,000 Jews were murdered when we react with stupidity and work with those who openly strive for our extinction.
16. Where are you Jews time to fight back We must protect ourslf
(01.23.18)
from our own destruction. Our leaders betray us whether J,St, Hillel, Jewish Federation, ADL, BICOM, even LIkud and CO pretending our enemy who calls and acts to wipe us out want peace.

Time for the Jews of the world to make a noise and fight back before its too late.
17. Israel can keep suffering or solve the root of Gaza problem
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.24.18)
Israel has two options regarding Gaza. Option 1 is to keep suffering endless rocket attacks, terror and wars from Gaza, as we are doing now.

Option 2 is to solve the root of the problem; Israel's mad retreat from Gaza. Israel never had these kinds of problems before the retreat. We need to retake Gaza forever.
18. What to do with Gaza?
(01.25.18)
Bomb it to smitherines after a warning to move.
19. Gaza is akin to the native Americans
BBB   (01.25.18)
except the native Indians knew when to 'war no more.'

The Arabs in Gaza can't make anything work despite being funded by numerous nations for over 70 years all to their own detriment.
Beggars can't be choosers the Arabs should move back to their Arab lands.

Their real problem is their undying hatred for the lands original owners, the Jews.
