2. The Dutch anthem
tiki ,   belgium   (01.31.18)
Talking about GERMAN blood and the SPANISH king and fear of G-D & Christian values in nearly every verse.

And despite that everybody respects the National anthem & it's wording and nobody want to change it!.

Israeli Arabs could lean something.....it's called respect!
3. Judge Salim Joubran is correct.
Shimon Z. Klein ,   Bat Hefer   (01.31.18)
The Israeli National Anthem, "Hatikvah" should be the hope of all Israel's citizens including Israel's Arab citizens. An anthem should never be partisan for the majority sector only. After all, Israel's citizens should have a common loyalty to Israel by taking the example of South Africa where all its citizens' sentiments are conveyed in its National Anthem. Why not include a stanza that is all-embracing so that all Israel's citizens can identify and feel comfortable singing it?
4. One more reason to separate
4AstrongerHomeland ,   Jerusalem   (01.31.18)
We need and want a Jewish Homeland few
Will deny this after 2000 years of Jew hate and slaughter
We must separate from the Arabs whether
They are living in Israel or the territories let them
Make their own fate as a nation I am sure it can be done humanely
Leaving each People the self respect they deserve But especially
A strong Jewish Homeland
5. When I lived in the Diaspora I also sang the anthem of my
olim hadashim ,   Tel Aviv   (01.31.18)
host country.A lot of Arabs simply do not belong here.
6. Pathetic argument
JR   (01.31.18)
He should be grateful that an arab can serve as a judge in this Jewish country, unlike the surrounding arab countries and territories who kill and expel their Jewish residents.
7. It's a free country. No one has to sing it
Moshe   (01.31.18)
If you want to sing it, do so. If not, then don't.
Why is this even a big deal?
8. One million Muslims expelled in Burma. Israel do them same.
Steve Benassi ,   Minneapolis USA   (01.31.18)
This Arab provides one more reason to do it.
9. Hatikvah for ALL
Tim ,   Brighton   (01.31.18)
One of the most moving and anthems it was composed in 1886 to reflect a Jewish narrative then
But Israel now..a beautiful, vibrant and multicultural and religious society. Surely just by amending a few words the Hatikvah can be sung with pride by all

Amended Words
As long as within our hearts
Israels soul sings
As long as forward to the East
To the Land of Israel looks the eye
Our hope is not yet lost
It is two thousand years old
To be a free people in the Land of Israel and Jerusalem

Current Words
As long as within our hearts
The Jewish soul sings,
As long as forward to the East
To Zion, looks the eye –
Our hope is not yet lost,
It is two thousand years old,
To be a free people in our land
The land of Zion and Jerusalem

jos rec ,   la   (01.31.18)
11. re Israeli arabs cannot sing Hatikva hmmm
TalYof   (01.31.18)
First of all, Israeli arabs realize don't they, that they choose to live in Israel,
a JEWISH STATE....

In order to please the Israeli arabs and change any wording to Hatikva is unacceptable!!
The Israeli Arabs either put up with the reality of living within a Jewish State
and respecting all that the Jewish state encompases or .. hey leave!!

17. joubran-wake up
manny   (01.31.18)
joubran speaks his mind aided and abetted by lapid herzog and livni's focus on israel as an equal country of all of its citizens downplaying that it is a jewish country with an anthem that all can be proud of.

joubron wants an arab anthem-go to one of your 22 arab countries- youc an sing it there.

as in ancient times jews and non jews alike live in israel as proud citizens with full rights, yet israel is a country of the jews. we have christians moslems and druse fighting for it in the idf.

joubron-you have earned a great education thanks to resources offered by israel. and you have earned a high rank in israel society. jews are learning arabic and arabs are learning hebrew. never forget it is a country of the jewish people from ancient times to now.\

if you are more comfortable being a supreme court justice in iraq, under assad, or in lebanon, go there.

arabs in israel have it 100 x better than their brothers in arab counries so don't be a hippocrite. you are talking like the zoabi, so your words ring hollow.

(01.31.18)
19. National Anthem should represent all its Citizens
Shimon Z. Klein ,   Bat Hefer   (02.01.18)
In my post, I NEVER suggested changing the anthem. I suggested adding a stanza that all citizens of the country can accept and sing emphasizing a
common loyalty to Israel by all its citizens not only one sector.
20. Very GOOD Salim! Thanks for clarifying this point.
