Erdogan is on a path to become mini Putin in ME. don't expect change. expect him to make lots of trouble. and trouble for Israel. religion and power has gone to his head. soon there will be massive protest in Turkey. too late. peace, democracy and trade a better option. pity.

The US maintains an airbase in Incirlik, Turkey housing the 39th Air Wing. Coverage for the Middle East and as far away as Afghanistan comes from there. Tactical nuclear weapons are stored there. This is not something the US is keen on losing.

Just remember, normalized ties involve spitting and poking each other in the eye. There is no such thing as friendly relations with Sultan Erdogan's Turkey.
