1. No, no, no!
Vered, Israel   (03.04.18)
I was a limited fan of Netanyahu, but it needs to be over. I appreciated his English, his ability to explain our position to the world, and his refusal to capitulate regarding the Palestinians up to a point. But...the writing's on the wall: the Hareidim will never stop taking. They think they have a lifelong right to our money. What has happened in Ashdod was not the beginning of their ruining every place they can. The beginning was Bet Shemesh, and it will not stop. When they "come for you", will it be too late.? I live in a very nice place, but 2 weeks ago a Hareidi youngster threw a rock a car that passed him on Shabbat. As it turned out, the child was not from here, but was visiting his Hareidi relatives. Still, it highlighted the mentality of these religious fanatics.

When this article talked about the Torah sages having ruled, and therefore, what is there to negotiate - that could have come right out of Tehran, the religious power behind the throne. We need to elect a government not beholden to the Hareidim so we can wean them of the government dole. If we miss this opportunity, we have no one to blame but ourselves.
2. They NEED to serve in the IDF!!
Talula   (03.04.18)
There are units that cater for Haredim - there's NO reason why these lazy slobs cannot serve. And, if they don't - then ALL and ANY money given to them by the state needs to stop - I for one don't want to support these vile people.
3. I'm not a fan of the haredim but...
Robert ,   Antwerp   (03.04.18)
Netanyahou made an agreement with the hareidim when hé pût together the coalition. So they have a point
4. Fine let's go to elections
Naor ,   Jerusalem   (03.04.18)
With any luck Litzman and his erk will be well out of it- since Lieberman is looking for money for the IDF - take it ftom the Haredim- they have taken enough from Israel over 70 years.
5. Haredim
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (03.04.18)
When will the redemption come and free Israel from the Haredi Fanatikan ?.
6. The Ultra Orthodox

will bring the destruction of Israel. Torah states each man must do military service. And that includes the harediam. The only exemption would be the Chief Rabbi.

From the time of Moses to Joshua (who himself was a rabbi) were all soilders.
The haredi community defies GOD's law. They have become lazy beggars and refuse to accept Israel. They are no different than terrorist.

These are Jews which the Torah states "they call them Jews, but they are false Jews who sit in the seat of Satan" . These were the Jews who continually rebelled againsit GOD. These were the Jews who collaborated with the Nazi regime. These were the Jews who put the population at risk.

The black garments have no place in Judaism. They represent the cult of evil.
7. Who needs 'em anyway?
Big Yossi ,   Israel   (03.05.18)
Seems to me the IDF has been succeeding quite well on the battlefield for the past 70 years without the haredi yeshiva students. All of a sudden, national security requires their presence? Those haredim that can and want to serve, that's one thing. But, the rest? I mean, have you seen these guys up close? The vast majority will add zero to Israel's security while costing a bundle of extra cash for all their extra requirements. All this to prove a point? The toughest fighting force in the Middle East needs these guys? And how many are we talking about? Not millions, or even a hundred thousand "extra" conscripts (of very dubious value at best)? People see the haredi community as this colossal "black" mass, that must number in the millions, at least. The fact is the entire debate revolves around approx. 20,000 men aged 18-35. All those yeshiva students older than 35 (possibly even younger than that) are not even under consideration for conscription.
The clamor for conscripting haredi yeshiva students has always come from politicians and journalists, not from the IDF. If the army needed them, it would have demanded their conscription decades ago. It never has, except for a few months after the Yom Kippur War 45 years ago. So, just like there are numerous others, such as athletes, entertainers, academicians, etc. who don't serve or do markedly shortened service, no damage will occur if the Jewish State continues to show some respect to our people's heritage. And neither will the fighting capabilities of the IDF be impacted, as we have seen.
As far as cutting govt. benefits to haredim, everyone knows it'll never work. Because then the State will have to cut benefits to ALL citizens who don't serve, and the Supreme Court will never allow cuts in benefits to Arab Israeli citizens.
